Why do you scrapbook? Share your thoughts...

I thought it would be meaningful for the scrapbookers out there to reflect a bit on why we scrapbook. There is something magically precious about scrapbooking, since it archives memories in a way that is uniquely mine. Simple or technique-filled, each page is how I have laid it out, with personal reflections, thoughts, aspirations, quotes and moments that guarantee memory keepers that I can call my very own. The like-minded people (who are so generous with their supplies and ideas) whom I’ve been blessed to meet along the way are another reason why I continue scrapping – it’s been a lovely community to belong to. However, ultimately, I would say that I scrap because of who I am. Someone who is pathetically sentimental deep down inside, someone who is more of a magpie than she’d like to admit and someone who would enjoys inflicting her artwork on others by forcing them to flip through her albums. Above all, I scrap because I love taking photos, the written word, the texture of paper, and the potential to create objects of beauty that can be pored through for generations to come.

you should go to this shop at Plaza Sing called Made with Love on the third floor - the layouts there will make you want to make one!

I have never really done scrap booking on my photos much before. Most of the time I want to do it, I get so overwhelmed by the design phase, I ended up doing nothing! In fact, my graduation photos are still sitting in some corner waiting to be scrapped booked since, oh... I dunno... eons ago. In fact, even with new technology where one can use software to do a digital scrap book, I am still intimidated by the design phase. I love to take pictures, but I have never really got around to sit down and seriously scrapbook any of them.

Oh I love scrapbooks! Did one for my best friend before, also for my favorite teacher :D I also made a scrapbook for my most loving ex-boyfriend, hehehe. I just love doing it because it lashes out my creativity. You know, just like doing a puzzle, the finish product always makes you proud of yourself and really happy. Well, I will be doing a scrapbook again, for my future baby (I wish, hehehe). I can't wait to put all those cute baby-things on it. Yippeee!

Ah....a true scrapper! I think the best part of keeping the memories is the fact that my photos are not just stuffed in a box. They are artfully places on colorful pages to capture each moment and save it for a lifetime...Three years ago I did a scrapbook for each one of my kids from their birth to the present time.....with each scrapbook....all my love for them went into every pages...When I visit their homes and meet their friends one of the first things I always hear is....I have seen their scrapbook...so I also scrap because I am sentimental..and because memories that have been captured and collected into a book.....and those memories are more important then any other thing we possess!

I love putting my kids scrapbook together and family scrapbook together. I never had any pictures of me as a baby so i think it is important that my kids have those pictures for memories when i pass or my husband pass. It shows that our family was close and important to each other.

I have always tried to scrapbook. I started one on my husband and I when we first go together then never finished it. I couldn't even tell you where it was right now. I started one when my daughter was born and got to her being about 6 weeks and stopped. She is now 19 months old and I just started her book again. I told myself I will do this at least once a month from now on. My plan is to continue one for each year of her life untill she graduates high school. And give her them for her graduation present. I think it will mean a lot to her. I don't know if I will let her see it between now and then. I guess we will have to see what happens. I know that I want to do it because I want her to see herself growing up. There are many photos of me growing up but some are here and some are there. I want her to have them. I don't have a lot of my own and there are times that I would like to see my own in some type of order. I think that doing this for her with those special things in it will only bring joy to her. There is one page that I am thinking of right now. My mom was in town and we took my daughter to the park we had found a feather and my mom was tickeling my daguhters neck with it. I kept the feather and put it on the pages with the pictures of her funny faces. When she looks back on that it will mean some thing to her and show her that her and my mom were close from the begining.

At first I scrapbooked because I wanted a baby book for my daughter. From there it naturally grew with my love of taking photographs. I just love to take pictures and what better why to share them than through scrapbooking. I don't have enough wall space for all my favorite photos. I also can't stand people putting their fingerprints all over them when looking at them. So they are easy to see in an album. It's also become more personal. A way to share myself with my family. My young children may not understand it now, but they will cherish it when they are older.

Scrapbook can pass to generations to generations. It keeps past memories in your life. It's like reuniting families and gives family bonding when you share and talk about family history and memories.

I scrapbook, because I enjoy it. I love re-creating memories, because I too....am a sentimental fool!!
