Here is a good question.... I remember when i first got into high school we didnt have the internet, I think we finally got the internet when i was a junior in high school which would have made that 1996/1997. I remember only getting on there and chatting in the chat rooms from time to time and mainly using it to type up stuff for school or looking up stuff for projects. I couldnt imagine going without the internet now. I go on the ineternet to check the weather instead of turning the weather channel on, on the television. I remember back when i didnt have dsl, i had to tell my friends and family not to call between this time and this time becasue we would be on the internet. we had to get a second phone line because each one of us had to take turns on the internet and before you knew it our phone was always tied up. I honestly dont know what i would do without the internet. I know before i got aphone in my house i live in now i went back to ancient times and was writing to my friends thru letters in snail mail lol. then id have to wait a week or two to get a response from then by then id have 2 more letters ready to be sent out along with the one i am writing back about. So i think id be a little lost without the internet. I keep incontact with alot of people i grew up with and lots of family members thru the internet. What would your life be without the internet?

I am so glad you asked this question. I spent 2 days without it and felt I was going OUT OF MY MIND!! It is SO funny how we can get used to certain things in fact so attached to them that they practically become a part of us. That is kind of sad. I even sat there and asked myself what if the internet never existed what would we be doing in its place?

Internet is just a man made tool Life would have been good if internet was not there for simple reason we would have become more active in our daily life and spend more time socializing with our family and friends and people who do shopping through online would have incurred loss because of scams and other reasons

Not that bad. If only for 1-2 or maybe 3 days I'll be fine but anything more than that would be disastrous for me. I gotta stay connected because I like to find information as I browse them. During my childhood and teenage years there was no such thing as internet. But when internet comes to my mind about 12 years ago I became so interested and increased my time just for the internet. My father was computer illiterate so me and my younger brother told him to get into internet. Now we can contact each other by email although my father rejected video conferencing because the internet connection back in my home country was worst. I am now happy with my internet connection here in Australia however I am planning to get faster connection for cheaper price once my contract with my current ISP over. Internet is great! I guess more and more people are getting hook up with internet and that's something that they cannot miss, particularly for internet addict like me or business minded people.

I was not familiar with the computer or internet till the year 2005. After my son went to his hostel to pursue his Management studies he taught me how to use it for chats and mails. Now, I relocated to Mumbai in 2006 and after that I have learnt it with a lot of zest. Today I just cannot live without internet because Mumbai is a huge place and I am largely dependent on the internet for banking etc.., I use it for my writing purposes and also for communication, for mails and chats and of course mylot.com.

well, to tell the truth I really dont use the internet that offten. I only get on to go to mylot or check my email and thats about it. So, if there was no internet I guess I'll live. life does go on. Things would go back to writing hand written letters and so on. I personaly dont think that it a big deal going with out the internet because I have done it before.

If we wouldn't have the internet then our lives would be same as it was before we obtained it. We wouldn't know the difference so it shouldn't matter. Same goes with cell phones. Its like every other person has a cell phone these days and most people go crazy if they even leave their cell phone at home. I would agree that I also do everything through the net, pay my bills, socialize, read news etc. I don't even watch T.V anymore since my daughter was born. We don't know what something is until we try it out.

Without the internet, I won't have many write-ups, poems or diaries. Because, most often, my mind runs faster than my fingers. I'm a slow writer, thus with handwriting, my complete thoughts won't be materialized on paper because I tend to forget already what I had in mind. With the internet [and computer] I tend to type words much faster than I write them. Also, without the internet, maybe I am very much less informed and less knowledgeable as today. On the other hand, without the internet, I guess I would be as much as reserve as today. The internet has enhanced my writing skills as well as chatting skills via text. But not my verbal skills.

well, i also only know about internet when i am in a senior high school i think which is in 1997... before that, i don't know anything about internet... and i still remember that the first thing i do is set up an email account in hotmail and my friend is teaching me how to do that... i just follow her and we did it together in the public library... nowadays, internet has expanded so much and we are so dependent on it until we feel that we will be crippled without it... i still can live without the internet... it will be just very inconvenient though as i do lots of e-banking every month to transfer money and pay bills... take care and have a nice day...

oh my life would be awful without the internet, a lot of my friends live inside my computer and I couldn't imagine running around again to pay my bills or writing out cheques, the internet has brought me a lot of joy and made my life easier.

I cannot imagine my life without the internet. But I am pretty sure I'd be even more isolated and lonely that I am now. I'd probably sleep a lot more, and watch way more tv and movies. In general I'd probably have a lot less human contact, and I wouldn't have most friends I have if it's wasn't for the internet. In general life would be sad and boring.

Dear friend, Before the invention of internet there were people who lived better but I hope for attaining knowledge they either prefer books or other people. Moreover I started using this internet after not using it for more than 8 years. Hence I feel without internet many flexible facilities may be taken away like enhancing knowledge, ready reference for clearing doubts, mails, viewing films, making money, attaining good friends etc. For those facilities we may have find another alternative. I hope the flexible, ease and speed lifestyle could be affected.

Well, the biggest thing that I can think of is that if I didn't have the internet, I wouldn't be able to go to college. I go to the University of Phoenix online, so the internet is not just a luxury for me. I have to have it so I can earn my degrees. I remember the days of dial-up internet as well. We got the internet when I was in middle school and I used to camp out on AOL. I remember one time I switched the number that we dial to a long distance number because it was easier to get into and my mom got this HUGE phone bill for long distance. She was really mad...

Without the internet I'd be watching the same movie we watched last night since that's what Larry is doing. I used to write a lot of letters back in the day before getting online and I hated the waiting, too. I do find the internet to be invaluable when it comes to medical issues because I can check symptoms if someone in the family isn't feeling well or if something weird is going on with Larry's health. It also comes in very handy when you're trying to find something to buy for someone. This past Christmas I had to do a gift exchange with the other people in my office who I don't know very well and I had no idea what to get. After a couple of online shopping sessions I think I did pretty good!
