Whoops - that beer was a mistake

Being British I am never happier than when I have a warm pint of finest bitter beer to hand. Today I decided to have a bottle of the West Berkshire Brewery's "Good Old Boy" with my lunch. I knew that I shouldn't have done it. I'm not drunk, just very sleepy. I should know better. I always feel tired if I drink at lunchtime. I wanted to do some writing. But now I'm just not able to concentrate. I'd better go and lie down. What a waste of the afternoon. Does drinking or eating certain things at lunchtime have this effect on you?

One alcopop makes me tired at any time of day. I feel really sleepy if I have anything more than a sandwich at luchtime. Come to think of it I'm always sleepy until I get into bed then I can't get to sleep.

I know that we are young Nanna, but alcopops? You'll be telling me that we go clubbing next! Get your mini skirt on and go on the pull! I sleep very well these days, but I sometimes have to stay up well past my bedtime to do it. What does annoy me is that when the Boss gets up to go for work, I wake too. That means that I can be down here, tea in one hand, keyboard in the other at 7 am! Way too early. My eyes take about half an hour just to start focusing.

You can wear a skirt if you want but I won't. I have reached my second childhood now, (not that I ever came out of the first), that's why I tried an alcopop.

Yes drinking milk,Ice cream or eating milk products has this effect on me of making me tired and sleepy. I drank milk last night at 7:30 p.m. and by 8 I was nodding off and had to go to bed. But it has the same effect in the afternoon.

Well, I figure that I have a slight allergic reaction to it. I don't break out in hives or nothing but it does make me sleepy and tired. Well, I had a bowl of Rice Krispies this morning with a two cup of coffeee chaser to help keep me awake..so it kinda helps counter the affects of the milk.

I'm not much of a drinker and when I have dranked, make sure that I have eaten first before starting to drank. I'm not much of a drink and eat person. But next time make sure that it's not at lunch time. I don't feel sleepy though when I have drank, but you get some rest and take care.

I don't need to have a drink at lunch to get sleepy. I don't even need to eat. Just lay me down in the tall grass and I'm off to la la land.
I must be getting old.....................*pout*!

I tend to have to rely on a little nap in the afternoon on my days off. It doesnt matter what I eat but I get sleepy around 2-3ish. Im not much of a drinker but if I were to drink in the daytime I do get sleepy.
Ive just realised this is a old discussion but better late then never especially when it comes to mylot!! lol
Im sure you have learnt you lesson about drinking at lunchtime but will probably do it again!! x

Personally I would choose a glass of Landlord,by Timothy Taylor, but thats my tipple, but yes if I drink at lunchtime its fatal ,I cannot seem to get myself togehter,it just all seems to much of an effort. We went out for supper last night ,and I had my usual thing, but I had three halves of lager and I just felt as thoguh I was going to blow up,and then the sleepiness followed. But as the saying goes,if you enjoyed yourself then all well and good.

i never actually eat or drink anything that can make me sleepy during lunchtime... i prevent eating too heavy food during lunchtime though as i can't continue my work anymore if i am too full... i tend to be lazy and my body doesn't want to move when i eat too full... i think whatever i eat, i always feel sleepy after eating heavy meals as i love sleeping so much... sleeping is my hobby and i always use my free time to sleep as much as i can especially during weekends... take care and have a nice day...

Aww poor fish :)))) Yes indeed it does.. But having 2 or 3 at lunch will wake me up sufficiently to want to do other things. Writing may not be possible, but that does not mean my imagination is not active :)))

Hello p1kef1sh,
yes I do get tired if I drink in the middle of the afternoon. One afternoon my fried came round with a bottle of Blossom Hill, I mean two bottles and I had a bottle red, my gosh I was so tipsy and just wanted sleep, then she said lets go the pub. The funny thing I was sober and wide awake by the I got home. Surley I wasn't drinking water?
