Do you find yourself eating the same things?

I do. I try to shake things up a couple of times a month, but for the most part, I tend to stick to the same old same old because the kiddo will eat at least some of it. If I fix new stuff he is more reluctant to eat and he is not in need of weight loss of any kind from not liking what I fix.
I do want to expand his horizons though and I really love new eats. So got any favorite new sites to check out? I already visit allrecipes and cook dot com.

That is quite a one track mind. As long as it makes you happy, who cares? Right?

Yes, unfortunately I find that we eat the same or very similar things most of the time. Part of the reason though is a simple lack of money to buy a lot of food choices so we have to stick to getting as much for our money as we can. That means we eat a lot of chicken especially so I am always looking for different ways to cook it cuz after awhile, I hate the sight of chicken! And we have a huge problem with getting the kids to eat anything other than mac and cheese and chicken nuggets! We're trying very hard to expand their horizons too and its sort of a nightmare and so far isn't working too well. But we'll keep trying I guess. Just want them to eat and be healthy, you know?
Have you tried supercook.com?

I have not tried that site, but will have a look. I know all about not having much money these days for too much experimentation. We are really lucky to afford the basics.

I used to be so like that...eating that same hamburger and fries and then I happen over someone who opened a whole new world to me. Steaks, places wih cloth napkins...it was a new to me but now I am the one take people to places they have never been before and having them try new things. It is so sweet to see someone try something new and like it. Just the same, a hamburger and fries is really good every now and again.

In our family it is just hubby and myself and we do tend to have the same things each week. I don't really know why, it's just easier. Sometimes I'll get the urge to try something new and I'll search the internet for a new recipe.
We do have 3 eat out nights a week. Usually we just order delivery and we change around the fast foods those nights but otherwise I guess we're just stuck in a rut.
Have a great day!
Char

I love making Chinese foods, although I have to admit about the only thing I make with any regularity is stir fry. I tried having a Chinese food night where I made it all myself, down to the egg rolls and let me tell you something, that is hard work from home. Took forever.

I love to cook and love to eat. I am always trying new things out. Allrecipes is a good site. Meals . com and TheCooksCorner are good sites. I subscribe to a lot of recipe newsletters. I also really like Taste of Home and their new magazine Simple and Delicious. I subscribed to Bon Appetite for years but found most of their recipes to be beyond my financial reach. Also try all the About . com cooking newletters.

I do this too, but I've just always been really picky. So most the time I eat pretty much the same few things, but I like enough that if I'm sick of eating the same things all the time I can switch to a few other things I like for a few days. I have always been like that though, so I'm kinda just used to it. When I get tired of eating the things I like it's usually because my appetite is low at that time, and during those times I usually just eat one meal a day, so at least then I just have to worry about finding one meal. LOL

I tend to these days - didn't before when my kids were home. My husband refuses to eat anything I make since they left, so I figure, make it easy on my self..I will make a pot of something and est it until it is gone. I make buritto meat and eat if to 2-3 lunch and dinner, until it is gone. So what if it is the same thing 2-3 days in a row? Next 2-3 days will be something different. I just keep it healthy and so far so good.

The food network has alot of interesting recipies. I think it is www.foodnetwork.com. Boomertown which is another social forum site also has alot of interesting recipies. It is in their lifestyle section. The food section of the local paper often has recipies available as well. There are no shortage of places to look for recipies.

There tanniebabe, sometimes you can avoid going to these recipes site and try to be creative in the kitchen. For instances the simple things that you know can be mixed together and be compliment you can tried it. For instance ackee and saltfish, callaloo and saltfish (codfish), pak cho, cabbage and corn beef etc. These really are tasty and nutritious meal.

I am not much for fish. I do agree that simple ingredients can be the best. Sometimes a hobo pack with just salt pepper and garlic is just the thing.

I like trying new things and working with many types or seasonings , and sauces . I also like to use lots of veggies when I cook with steaks . Like steak with green , red, yellow peppers, musrooms , and pepperjack chesse . Ya , that is a little common, but I never thought I would cook with veggies I used to hate as a kid . Usually, I pick cookbooks up at the fairs , or flea markets and make something from there .Latley , I am on a homemade pizza kick and have been making all sorts . Like hot sauce chiken pizza , and steak pizza .
My mom always had to keep all the cooking very basic because my brother was a picky eater . Each time my dad would cook it would be a treat with added in flavors and he just would throw a little of this , and that in

yes, i totally agree with you. i even feel dizzy when i enter the vegetable market. you know, in the market, the types are always the same, seems i have tasted all types and no new type come out.
maybe i have to join a class about the cooking skill. and try to learn more cooking ways.

Sometimes I try a new type
of vegetable weekly just to add
a new flavor.
This past week, we had red jalapeno
and bell pepper and squash, which I added
to our chicken dinners.
It was very tasty.
Got lots of compliments
from my spouse on the good food!

Yes, we tend to eat the same types of food but prepared in different ways. Sometimes when we are at an impasse about what to prepare, or too tired, we will visit a local restaurant and perhaps try something a little different. For the most part, we are creatures of habit and do not like to experiment just in case it is wasted food that we don't like. With a bigger food budget, we would probably be much more experimental.
