Alone at home, do you still shut the bathroom door?

OK sounds like a strange question but I suddenly noticed the other day that even though I am at home alone in the week I still shut and lock the bathroom door when using the toilet! I cannot imagine not closing it, the thought of sitting there with the door open just feels strange and not quite right! I just wanted to know if anyone else does the same?

no when I am home alone.. it stays wide open so as not to stress out my 2 dogs and cat who feel the need to "help" me while I am in there.

Most of the time when alone I still shut the door. I never lock the door, mainly because it's just me and my significant other who live here, and he has never tried walking in on me, nor I to him. It feels weird to not shut the door though. I think that's a feeling that we start developing very early in life, and it stays with us forever. I've seen other people who will leave the door wide open, no matter how many people are in the next room. I think that is so rude and disrespectful towards the other people in the room. Some people just don't respect themselves, as well as others, I guess.....

I just cannot go without shutting the door! If I am out and have to use a public loo I will not use one unless the lock works.

I will close the door, but not lock it. I never really noticed though. Most of the time, it is such a rush to get in that I take a swing to close the door and hope that it connects. It does seem like a strange question. I usually lock it when I am taking a bath or washing my hair though. Just wanted to increase the sentences in the discussion so I added some more. But you know I would never in a million years ask a question like this. It seems rather noisy.

Well that is because I am nosy, I didnt want to know what folks did in the bathroom only wanted to know if they shut the door when they were alone in the house out of habit. Or whether they just left it open cos they were alone. You know if you did not like the question you should have just ignored it, you did not have to respond, but thanx anyway xx

Hi gemini, I always do and great to hear I am not alone in doing so...LOL! My husband caught me one time when he decided to take a half day from work and was wondering why I need to close the door where in fact I am alone.I just feel more secure and private plus I also don't like the odor to be traveling around the house..LOL!

I always close too.. Just in case someone is at home and I am not aware or just in case someone suddenly comes home. I think it's a good habit to close. Peeing should be done in private and not openly.

no, i never shut the bathroom door unless i have company of course. i do shut my bedrooom door at night. got use to doing that when my kids were home & had company most of the time as they got older i'd shut it to keep out the noise. now it's just a habit but i sleep better w/it closed.

I am never really home alone. I have 2 little kids so when I need to use the bathroom I just leave the door open so they can come in if not they would either hurt themselves trying to get in or each other. My oldest will be 3 this week and my youngest just made 1 and they are both girls. Now once my period starts then I will have to start closing the door b/c I don't want them to see me then.

Oh I never shut or lock the door as most of the time there is only me in the house and my small son. If the girls are at home I do or if I have visitors and in the winter when having a bath I will close then and put heater on to keep the heat in but any other time no, and if fact before I replide I ran upstairs to have a pee to see what it is I automatically do and I push door slightly closed but not fully go and come back down again to respond He, he,. The things I do eh to give a truthful answer on myLot. Ellie :D

even not alone,i don't shut my bedroom or bathroom door. it's kinda weird...what if the house gets fire or something...it cuts the time short if my door opens.

No, I leave it open, I have kids and getting them to flush is more important.

I never close the door. I only close it when I have company or when my son is home. Truthfully, if my son were still little (he's 12 now), I wouldn't close the door even if he was at home. But, alas, he is now too old to get away with that anymore lol.

No, I'm not afraid at all even I'm home alone, and I do close the bathroom door. I just see to it that all doors and windows of the house are all locked.

yes, I do this. just like you I find it strange not to. I feel as if someone will just walk in on me anytime. My Gosh! I cannot imagine what i would do if that happens. i did attempt not to lock the door before but I felt too paranoid that I ended up locking the door still. Also, I make sure that the main door of the room is also double locked just in case something happens when I am inside the bathroom.

Not strange at all, I have thought about this before myself. I do not close the door when I am home alone. I usually use the guest bathroom and it is rather small and feels even smaller with the door closed. I do not like feeling closed in when I do not have to be. But I can remember as a child growing up never ever going to the bathroom without closing and locking the door.

Interesting question. Many years ago, I had a dog that to go in the bathroom with me anytime I went in the bathroom, even if it was just to clean it.

To me,if i alone at home,i will not lock the door.i only shut the door.I think it is because i am lazy,it is troublesome to lock the door unless it is necessary to lock them.

I used to, but now I leave it open almost all the time, no matter what I'm doing. If I know I'm going to be in there a bit then I will shut the door first, but sometimes I forget to or don't realize until it's too late.
