it happened a few days ago, I was posting a response to a discussion that a friend have started and I did a typo, I didn't notice it and the spell checker that came with Firefox didn't notice it either, when I clicked the button to post the response I got a warning message saying that I need to correct a bad word, and that I was not allow to be mean, or something like that I don't remember the whole sentence of the warning message, it was all in red, I checked that I wrote and it found I have made the typo when I wrote the verb to sit, and I ended writing other thing, so you would imagine what was the word, I corrected it and send again the response to the discussion and it didn't give me any trouble, I don't know it have happened to other people here, I thought it was funny that they thought I was going to be mean or something, but it also made me feel good because I wouldn't type a bad word for mistake, I remember when chatting with a friend about a picture she sent me with her mother, I asked her, if it was her with the red shirt but I did type that bad word like I did here in mylot, hopefully I noticed it and apologize but I think she got a little upset about that maybe she thought I did on purpose, but I didn't.

well I wanted to reply to the other user under you but I was not able, anyway I think it is funny that he said something about grammar, I think it was for me very bad grammar, so I searched for a grammar checker and I found an online grammar checker, I don't know how effective it is but so far it found some grammar mistakes on my discussion.

So sorry that happened to you
with your friend.
Hey! Typos happen all the time
online. It's no big deal.
I use Mozilla too and it's pretty
good about catching these little slip ups.
As for your friend, she should be more
understanding.
Slip ups and typos happen. We are all guilty.
I don't understand why she wouldn't
give you (her friend) the benefit of the doubt.
That's what friends do.
They overlook the tiny details for our sake.
And we do the same for them.

oh yes... it happens to me before as well... i was going to spell the word a** and mylot won't allowed me to do that and say that bad words are not allowed here... i think it is really good that they censored the words that we use before we can post the discussions and responses as it will make this site a reputable site... so i have to change the wordings before i can post my responses... take care and have a nice day...

LOL...I think most of us have made typo's like that! I have done the 'shirt' one myself. My old keyboard had some sticky keys too so 'as' often turned out differently if I wasn't careful. I am glad mylot has those filters in place to keep thing fairly clean. It does go a little over board since we have to be careful talking about Mr. Cheney and types of salads and all sorts of other ridiculous things...it would be nice it the filters could understand the context of the words better!

Spell checkers are no good when you write the wrong word spelled correctly. I wish they were mind readers!
I just typed out a comment to someone who is wanting to start a web site and is a total newbie. I was giving this person advice and I mentioned that you have to have content acceptable for most anyone, that you can't have adult-oriented content (but I typed out the word), or you have to find a host that will allow that. Sure enough, it popped back up, telling me I couldn't say what I was saying unless I okayed it for that kind of content. Well, I didn't want to do that - took out the word and put adult-oriented in there twice. And, it took it. So it happens!

I did not have a typo, what I experienced just yesterday when posting, I was trying to warn a user not to surf to p-o-r-n-o sites if he/she does not want to get infected with virus. Apparently myLot scans for these words and warn me of an adult content in my message.
At first I was startled, but then I quickly realized that it was the "p" word.
I guess it is good that myLot has this kind of features.

I think that's great - that the site will pop in and tell you that you're about to use a bad word. After all, once we've hit "post response", there is no edit button where we can change it. (I do think the writer of a comment should be able to edit or even delete his/her own comment. It's that way at lots of sites.)

It almost happened to me though. I wanted to write alarm clock and the L was the letter I missed out. Good thing I thought of reading it first before hitting post response.
