Nadal beat Federer today ending Federer's 5-Wimbledons-in-a-row winning streak. This leaves Federer tied with Borg's record on successive Wimbledon wins.
Nadal is also the first player to do the French Open-Wimbledon double since 1980.
The last player to do that was ... Bjorn Borg!
So is Borg still the best ever male tennis player?

Bjorn Borg is still amongst the best. But players like Federrer and Nadal are posing big threat to is undisputed championship. Nadal is definitely on his way to become the greatest ver. Fderrer is only a slam left.If Federrer can win at Ronald Garos even once he can be the best. But for me the greates till date is still Pete Samprass. Although he couldn't win at France even once, the kind of teniss he played was out of the world. He still has the best serve and voley. He is the best for me when it comes to tenis domination. Players like Fed and Rafa don't have courage to come to net as done by Pete Samparas.

Hi itsarnie, thanks very much for your comment. What was interesting last year was that Federer came close to taking Bjorn Borg's streak of Wimbledon victories and that Nadal came close to Bjorn Borg's Roland Garros record. It says a lot for the great Borg. As for Pistol Pete, my only regret was that he didn't have the competition that Borg had with Connors and McEnroe or Federer now has with Nadal. So although Sampras' records like his prize-winnings are only now being beaten, I still have this question. Incidentally I feel the same way about Steffi Graf - as her only great rival Monika Seles had a knife stuck in her back, which stopped her just as she was about to reach her peak. Have a great week.
