I grew up in a big family, and I hated it. First, because it felt like a constant competition for parental attention. Beginning as children when we just wanted them to look at us, we started competing, but then as we grew up and got involved in different things our parents had to choose which event was more important because we had overlapping concerts/sports events/fund raisers. Second, money was always scarce. We had enough to get by, but we very rarely went out to eat or other normal family things because it is difficult to feed 10 children cheaply at a restaurant. Third, some of my siblings feel more like aunts and uncles. I am one of the youngest and my older brothers and sisters seem more like they are relatives than my actual siblings. When they are 10 years older than me, we are not very close.
I want to have a medium family, probably 3 children. I think that is big enough for them to squabble and really be siblings, but also small enough to be manageable.

it is fun to have a big family. but prices of everything is shooting up and it is hard to earn if you have a big family. i have a son and a wife so that makes us three members in my family. i wish we can have more children but my wife got a lot of miscarriages before we hit the jackpot so she said one is enough.

I believe the size of the family will depend on how much is the family's income.
In my case, i believe that a small family will mean better food on the table, better health and of course a happier family.
In my country where everything is expensive and job opportunities are few, we must make both ends meet. We must classify our expenses according to basic needs, secondary needs and luxury. A middle class family can't have most of our wants like maybe a yearly vacation away from home. The income goes mostly on food, healthcare and shelter.
I grew up with my parents and a sister. My parents' salaries were not that big but my parents knew how to prioritize expenses. I really look up to them. My sister and I finished our education without my parents having to borrow money from other people or institution.
On the other hand, though we are small, we have a happy family because we live in simplicity and within our means.

Hi
I agree with you. I like the manageable medium sized family. If the family is very large, then it is not easy to provide facilities and food in a proper manner.
