I made a few dollars in my first few months at Helium, then in the past week I won $40 in a writing contest and I sold a Marketplace article for $20. My total earnings are now nearly $80 and I have requested my first payout.
I'm writing more now for Helium contests and Marketplace and I'm still adding articles to my list. My daily revenue earnings have increased since I got four rating stars.
I'm planning to get paid every month from Helium from now. I can do it if I continue selling articles and winning in contests, in addition to daily earnings from my article list.
In addition to the money I learn a lot from writing at Helium. I learn interesting things from my own research for articles, and from reading articles as I rate. I'm learning to write to publishers' requirements, and how to include keywords. It's all good practice, and I think it adds to my writing skills.

Hello paid2write, well done on your Helium earnings, especially on winning the contests. I write business articles there and I find the competitions hard to win, due to a lot of stiff competition and some collusion. I actually found a chunk of one of my articles copied, stolen and submitted for a competition which I thought was a bit cheeky.
Would love to see some of you writing. Do you use the same name?
Have a good weekend and enjoy the Olympics.

I've just received my first payout from Helium into my PayPal account! It's exciting to actually get the money I've earned there!
At the very bottom of each Helium page you will see it says 'link to Helium' and there you will find an assortment of banners. If you are logged in you can get the coding to link the banner to your About Me page. Or you can customise it to link to any one of your articles.
The advantage of Triond is minimum monthly payout is only 50 cents, but I usually earn less than that in a month. You need to have a lot of popular Triond articles to make it pay.
best wishes

You are welcome! .. just visited your website and your Helium articles. 65 articles is impressive. I am on 21 at the moment, but I have been quiet there for a few weeks. I wish you were here to show me how you did the helium links from your MyLot profile, but I will work it out eventually... I also had a look at the Triond site which was new to me. I am not sure if it worth posting the articles there as well, as I see that they take 50% of the prevĂous months earnings. What do you think?

Hi.
I joined Helium last year and have only just started writing for them. I have so far submitted 10 articles and have to say I too am completely flummoxed over the earnings on there. So far I have one article at 1 ranking, which cheered me more than any possible earnings. I have not had any direct feedback from users as yet, and wondered where is the best place to get it from? Do people leave feedback in the community part?
As for earnings on there, I can see it is going to be a long, slow process and for very little rewrd financially. It is however a great site for seeing how well your srticles do, and boosting self esteem. I don't use it daily, but enter it quite regularly, mainly to submit poems. I would be glad of some feedback comments from others though.

Hi evesee, I've been on Helium for about a month, submitted 21 articles and seen the majority get to number one. I get emails from readers routed through Helium, with comments or corrections and I have been contacted by the editor of the Finance group where I write most of my articles. It was nice to get feedback as I was not expecting anything. As you said, the feedback and the rankings are the biggest reward you get, as the earnings are very poor. I have put links from my other websites (XING, Facebook etc.) to my URL page on Helium. There are groups you can join on the site and there are noticeboards, but I have not had the time yet to get into that. If you would like to send me your URL page on helium, then I would only be too glad to have a look.
All the best.

Thanks. I have now put a banner in my profile that links directly to my about me page on Helium. Would really appreciate feedback and comments. I have had some feedback over one article which I took well, and leapfrogged the article which moved from 4th to 2nd place after I had done it. The feedback really helped me. The best thing is to learn from more experienced writers and listen to what is being said. I hope to learn more and improve my writing skills. :)

I write on Helium because it is a great place to network with other writers and get feedback on my work to improve my skills. The pay is not a lot, but the other benefits make it worth the effort. Plus, you retain non exclusive rights to all of your work there, which means you can publish it elsewhere as long as the other place knows it is not exclusive and is ok with that.

I've been writing on Helium for a year now. And I can honestly say that my efforts are going unnoticed. I don't know how to attract more people to read my stuff. I've tried the blog thing, but so far no good. I honestly have no idea why the reward is so little. I'm still trying to keep my interest in tact.

I can well imagine that you are frustrated. The competition on the site seems to be enormous, but I notice that the income depends on what type of subject you chose. May they just don't get enough traffic. If you want to send me an article title you write on Helium, then I'd be happy to help. You can send the details to my email if you want: umart13@aol.de

I write for Helium but only in poetry. However I still don't understand their points system. Worst, their categorical system is confusing.

The pay for writers is low across the board, not just at Helium. Unless you are writing for some of the top magazines (which often only accept agented submissions) or have a decently-selling book on the market, it is difficult to make a good living off of writing.
The good thing is, we retain rights to our work published on Helium (unlike Triond, which I had looked at).

Hello wilsongoddard. Thanks for your comment! Yes the pay is pretty poor, but at least with Helium and MyLot you can get some enjoyment out of it. Indeed writing at Helium has made me do my homework again for my business articles, which has not done me any harm at all. I began to appreciate your final point on ownership rights much more after I visited some other writers sites. I have decided to stick with Helium and use no other site.
Have a good weekend.

Hi cher913, thanks for your comment,
I am sure there are more writers out there, but I have not found many well-paying writing sites to sweep up this oversupply of writers.
Have you had to change your strategy over the last 5 years to move to shorter articles and more volume based writing?
