I'm a bit confused.

I'm still not sure how this works, how its determined how much money you get, etc. That was a lot of hows.

You should make and response as many discussions as you can. When you respond try to post long and helpful post. Also take care of spelling and grammar and don't repeat yourself. Be active and make many discussions with popular interests.

They don't really lay out their process of paying. You get money for starting discussions, like you just did, as well as replying to ones that others have started. It's not just how many you post though, the content of the discussions and replies plays a factor in how much money you will receive. Be sure to use good grammar and spelling, and make your responses as lengthy as you can without getting frivolous.
