There are a lot of energy drinks in the market.
From the first one I know of call Livita, to Shark to Red Bull ... the list is really long.
Well, to tell you the truth, I rarely drink them as I find them really sweet. Too sweet for comfort or to drink as a beverage.
Due to the lack of sleep recently, I decided to give these drinks a try as an engery booster. Ad I sampled one before during a road show, I decided on Red Bull.
Well, there is a new Red Bull drink which is suppose to be sugarless. It is less sweet compared to the previous versions and I am liking this one best! Comes in a really nice looking light blue can.
(refer to the left most can in the picture)
But it seems that not all the shops carry them.
Most of them are still holding on to the cheaper alternative from Thailand. The gold can with a shorter height, but broader packaging.
(refer to the gold can in the picture)
Well, having taken the sugarless one and feeling an energy boost during the past two days, I wanted to get another dose of the energy drink today. Could not get the sugarless one today. So I got me the traditional golden can instead.
Goodness! It was so sweet, I had to dilute it with one portion of Red Bull to two portions of water!
The effect is similar, but the sweetness is really horrible. It is like drinking syrup!
Have you taken such energy boosting drinks before?
What is your favorite brands?

I tried the Red Bull first time in a drink mixed with Jagameister (sp?). It was good.
Last year, I needed an energy boost and tried Red Bull - sugarfree. I liked it but it is too expensive.
I shop at Aldi's, here in the US, and they have Red Thunder, in both regular and sugar-free, and they are just as good and half the price.
So I don't Red Bull, I Red Thunder. I think I will go get myself one right now. Thanks!

They are selling them from $5.99 - $7.99 US currency, depending where you shop.

I am not a big fan of Red Bull as it is too expensive in comparison to other energy drinks that you get. It is £1.10 in most places, you can get double the amount for £1 with Relentless and then you can get the same quantity of Energy Drink for £0.35 which is a lot better value of money. My favourite is an energy drink called "Energy Drink" it is cheap and not too much that I cannot drink it in one go.

Well it expensive here. If you go to really cheap places you can get it for £0.69 but as I said before most places are £1.10, which to me is a lot for a little drink. Energy drink has the same amount of caffeine and I find that it awakens me quicker than red bull. Relentless has double the caffeine as double the amount of liquid, but I do not find it as effective.

That is why I like the new sugarless version.
But wifey found out my new found energy booster, she ain't really happy about it.
Heh heh... well, I will have to respect that. The first and last can I had was about a month ago during my course.
Few consecutive nights of late jobs was really draining to the mental energy.
Took one to keep awake during my course lectures.

Hi ,
I have drank red bull before . Like before I go on a huge hike , or if I am on the road and need a little pick me up . It does help sometimes , and is better than a warm coffee on a warm summer day . I like something cool sometimes . I dont think I have had that much of a crash from drinks like that . They do have a sugarless one or is it a lower fat one , either way they have a strong taste .
What is that saying . Red bull gives you wings

Red Bull gives you wings indeed!
I do agree with you that Red Bull helps sometimes. In fact, it is most of the time.
Just that it is a wee bit expensive compared to a strong cup of expresso.
Problem is, with too strong a cup of coffee, I get cranky from drinking too much.
8~p
The sugarless ones are easier to drink compared to the regular ones.

I usually take red bull before my exam in the morning to give me some energy during the exam period. I haven't tried
Livita or Shark yet.
Other than that, sometimes i mixed red bull with vodka (red bull vodka)

I never really tried using those drinks to boost energy levels for exams before.
The very first time I drank a Red Bull for a test, is during my IPPT when I was serving my national service.
IT did indeed help a little in the process. As the sugar help to elevate some of the fatigue of the rigorous exercise routine we have to go thru.
And the last time I tried it again, was after they introduced the new sugarless versions!

I stick to plain old coffee. That is my energy drink. My husband however drinks a Red Bull everyday. I buy them for him in packs!

no i don't... i never like drinking those kind of drinks anyway... i don't like the taste at all and i can't stand it... i prefer just to be natural and get lots of sleep to get back into shape without having to drink those kind of drinks... that works better for my body rather than having to drink those kind of drinks... take care and have a nice day...

It is good that you are able to catch some good and well deserved rest to restore your energy levels.
There are many times when we would appreciate a good energy boost. And it is helpful with such drinks around.
Heh heh... you too have a good day.
Thanks for sharing lingli_78.

Aye.. Does Milo count?? It also gives energy.
The only drink in your list I've drunk before is Red Bull and yes, I totally agree it tastes too sweet. Not only does it taste too sweet, it doesn't work to perk me up.
I can still sleep soundly after drinking Red Bull
For me, the only drink that helps to perk me up is sugar-less green tea. I hate drinking those sugared pokka green tea. Too sweet for my liking.
I tend to prefer drinks w/o sugar (except for those chocolate related drinks)

I tried drinking energy drinks before and I may have tried Red Bull too but I did not really feel any difference so I just discontinued drinking. There is one called Lipovitan which is quite popular and was in fact the first one but there are at least a dozen newcomers all claiming to have more energy than the others.

Lipovitan? Is it a renamed version of Livita?
The very first time I drink Livita was out of curiosity.
It was gawd darn sweet!
I never drank another since. Then it was Red Bull, the golden can version.
Lipovitan... hmmm... I wonder if it is available locally.

I don't go in for these energy boosting drinks.
I think they are all a scam of some sort.
They all use the same kind of chemicals to boost you up and I don't believe in artificial boosting.
A good diet and exercise are the things I go for and ignore the artificial aspects of health.

I agree. I don't believe in energy drinks, I don't think they can be any good for your body. I'm kind of high strung and I've had some anxiety problems, and when I've seen doctors for it, they say that drinking those are one of the WORST things you can do if you're like that as well.

Red bull is quite popular here in our country and I know lots of people, most especially men, who drink it. They actually claim that it really does give them energy and the taste isn't bad either. Though I haven't tasted one yet, the testimonies of others are proof enough that it is a good product.

I like the red bull drinks alot.. and all varieties of it: they're tasty and sweet. Especially in the examination period I drink them alot. They keep me awake and give me more concentration, although I know they're not very healthy.
My favourite brands are the following: I like red bull the most but it's a bit expensive in my country though. That's why I drink "golden power" the most, a variant of red bull, it tastes the same but it's a bit cheaper than the original Red Bull. I also like "Guantarex" or something (I don't remember the exact name).
But golden power definitely is my favourite one..
Greetz.

While I do not drink them very much. I do drink a Monster energy drink every once in a while just for the taste the sugar and caffine rush do not last long enough for me to enjoy. I would have to drink them all day.

It is good idea to drink Red Bull when tired. It will give us enegry, make us cheers up.
But, no mater how good it is, there is no reason to drink it too muck.

Red Bull is ok. I don't prefer it because it is expensive and upsets my stomach, not to mention it doesn't work that well. Its hard to drink and if you try a 5 Hour Energy drink, the little shot thing, its easier to drink and works much better than other energy drinks.

I have never tried to drink red bull or any energy booster... the closest that i have come to that is Gatorade... but that is not really an energy drink... more like a substitute to water... i am afraid that i might have to much energy when i drink red bull that i might not be able to sleep at night... so even if i am very tired... i just try to cope up with it...

I drink red bull each time before i go work, and i also drink red bull with vodka, that really makes your energetic but very drunk haha, i would recommending trying it at a party or so.
I don't like the taste of red bull as much as i used to but what the hell it does the job and its not that bad.
