So do I. DVDs could be conserved for a long time and be watched over and over again. In this sense, it's much more economical than going to the cinema.
However, the effect of DVDs can hardly compare with that in theaters. So, only if I terriblely like the movie, I will go to the cinema, otherwise, I would watch them on DVDs.

Hi, purplelavander, I agree with you.
For some good movies like " Ten Commandments " , " Sound of MUsic"...I prefer to watch in the theatre, because of its sound- system.I really enjoy the movie in the theatre.

I like watching moives on dvd in my own home. It is so much more comforatalbe to watch at home and when I go to the theater I always get some really tall persn who sits in front of me and I can't see plus I can fast foraward all the previews now if I just had a big screen tv.

if you asked methen the real fun is to watch the movie in the theatre. Big screen would sound what else do you need. But if I want to see the movie at being an obviously I had to bring a CD or a DVD. At that time I generally preferred to watch it on my DVD player and not on the computer because don't get that three when I watch it on a smaller monitor. I always see that a bigger screen and good sound quality is required to get the exact feel of any movie. And specially when the movie is dealing with a lot of visual effects and other high-tech stocks them it is better to watch those movie in these kinds of commentators to get a good feel.

I like both of them, depends on certain factors, whether I watch them in theatres or dvd.
I usually go to theatres to watch movies when I'm with friends. I never actually watch a movie in a theatre on my own, always with friends but sadly never with a date:P. Like most of us, I'm also annoyed by cellphones. It really destroyed the atmosphere. But the most annoying thing I found is children. When a superhero movie comes out, the theatre will be full of children with their parents. They shout & scream, running around, talking out loud and I wonder are they there to watch the movie or not. Maybe it's the popcorn & soda, I don't know, but it's always a dilemma when my friends invite me to watch a movie which I know will attract children.
So that's why I prefer dvd more, especially if it's a special edition with more footages than the theatrical release. Like most people agree, the best part is you can watch dvd at the comfort of your own home and the convenience to pause it when there's some sort of distraction.

I absolutely love watching movies in the theater. I'm going to see Hancock in about 30 minutes. I saw wanted for the second time on Monday. The week before that was Wall-E on Tuesday. I love the summer months because all the big budgeted popcorn flicks come out. It provides for an excellent chance to get out of the heat and enjoy some cool AC while watching flicks. If you are bothered by people try a little trick I learned. If you go to the movies on Sunday at the latest showing there will be very few people there and sometimes you'll have the whole theater to yourself.

Same is true for me also. I also like to watch movies in the comfort of my home, where I'm the king and I can do the things in the way I like. Sometimes I found so many distractions in the theater that I can't enjoy even a single scene of the movie and come back to home very disappointed. So I rarely go to the theaters.

I prefer to watch movies in theater most of the time. To me, some movies just have to be seen on the big screen to be fully enjoyed. But alas, I agree with you that the conduct of the other patrons have gotten so rude, and inconsiderate. The constant go ing off of cellphones, unruly and unsupervised children, loud talking, etc. Sometimes they are too cold or too loud for my comfort zone. But over the years, I have gotten real used the conveience of at home DVD watching. Can't beat the comfortable seating, food (you can order anything), gas saving, and you are watching the movies with who you want. So I stand somewhat converted.

I prefer watching them on DVD since it's alot cheaper. I enjoy going to the theatre, I just can't afford it anymore.

I used to go to the movies all the time until I had my son, then it was hard because I don't leave him with babysitters and I will not take him to the theatre (like some take their babies). I want to enjoy the movie, not have him crying in the background. We have a big screen tv with surround sound, not to mention it's more financially able to watch movies at home and when the baby gets fussy we just pause, put him to sleep, then continue with the movie. I've come to love me and my hubby having our date nights renting a couple good movies with popcorn and snacks.

it depends for me. if it's an action/adventure movie filled with special effects and all that jazz, i want to watch it on a theater first. it captures the excitement more.
if it's a movie that i really want to see for the story or acting or the drama, or if i know it's a tearjerker that would probably embarrass me in public (hehehe) i'd want to watch it on DVD so that i can repeat a scene agin if i want to really understand it or just relieve it.

dvds b/c you can pause and rewind when you have to go pee or get a snack. If you fall asleep you can always play the movie again lol. It also cost less.

Cinema is always best.
You're sitting in a large place with a huge screen before you and all the sound effects with lots of nice things to eat and, most likely, a bunch of friends.
DVD's at home is the same old place, nothing special, nothing out of the usual or ordinary.
So, I figure, cinema is always best. A special kind of occasion.

Although its convenient to watch movies at home but nothing beats the surround-sound in cinemas..its there you will really "feel" the movie and the excitement..that's just my own opinion though..

I prefer dvd's because its very cheap compared to watching in theaters because there is a lot of pirated dvd here in our country. But sometimes i prefer watching in theaters when i really like the movie or when im with someone
