How long do you wait to pick a best post?

For me it depends on how fast the topic starts getting any real number of replies. If it gets 10 in the first 24 hours I'll post the best one right away but there are a few that I have waited till they got 4 posts and it took like a week. How about you?

I'm like you about giving best responses. I did wait too long on a couple of them and still have to sift through all the answers before I post a BR. I just found two of my earlier posts that have 91 responses! (Yep, BOTH have 91... weird, huh?) I'm going to have a hard time picking the best one!
I'll get there one day... I hope!

For me it depends. It depends on the discussion I started and the response I get. If I really feel that the response is matching what I expected for this discussion and if I feel that its the end of this discussion then I will close that discussion by marking a response as best.
I feel, best is the end of everything. Even in English language they say, Good, Better and Best. The best. Thats why I feel best response should be a close to that discussion. So I will think so many times before marking a response as best.
What do you say?
You can respond to my other post here.

It depends freedomg. If I really like a post I might mark it right away if it is something that I feel like I need to wait awhile to see who responds, I will wait longer. I dont post that many discussions so I dont have a set method of doing it.

I don't really wait. I give a best response to the post that really answered to my query or truly gave a detailed information about the topic that I started to discuss. It is not a matter of time for me, what matters most is the essence of the response and if managed to grasp the true meaning of my discussion. Cheers!

Sometimes I consider the person who responds first to be a serious person regardless of how inadequate the response may appear, i will just give, because, she/he cared to see my post-i like such people a lot here and they earn their BR easy with me!

That's sweet, but I feel bad later if someone put something really profound in after I picked a BR. I know there are times when I won't be able to log on for a few days so I try to give everyone a chance. I think it's my hippy parents effect on me there.

It all depends on the quality of the responses i get. If i get a really good response which satisfies my query then i would give it a best response immediately. I have done this with some discussions on the first day itself with just two to three responses. I have others which have been for long but still i am waiting for an appropriate answer which would be worth the best response.

it depends on how easy to understand it the discussion, I started a discussion about a web side that i made for solve a system of equation and of course I just got one response and it took like four days, I don't get many responses for my other post anyway I am not starting much discussion because I rather prefer to post responses, I think it is more comfy, anyway I am not than creative to start a lot of discussion, I have saw people here that got a lot of responses very fast, I think it is because they have add a lot of people to their friend list, I think it depends also in the tags, sometimes I forget to pick up a best response and I feel guilty because I know there is people that wait for it, I don't mind about being selected as the best response, but It feel nice when people select your response.

You may find that after a bit of time you will get better at posting and if not then keep expressing yourself the way that you feel the most comfortable. Everyone has their own way of doing things and I think that the fact that we get to see that here is one of the things that I really love about Mylot.
