Making Extra Money on Youtube...?

I have kinda heard this on and off and thought I should ask here... How do people make extra money on youtube?
I mainly use youtube for searching for music but I have heard some people make extra money out of youtube, how do they do it? Apart from advertising and the like; I have across a few videos with website links, referral links for example...how is it done? How else are people making money on this site?
Are you making money on youtube? How do you do it? Have you wondered about how people make money on youtube? Will you try to make money on youtube when you know how to?

I too heard about this and wondered how it works. What I found out is there is another part of youtube where you have to submit an application to them to get approved to earn money off the videos you upload and share. I submitted an application but got rejected. Only a select few are getting to make money off videos right now so I figured I would wait awail and then reapply.

you better shoot some funny thing or how to perform magic or how to make something and put it on metacafe.. promote it and get money..i learned how to make money with my friend but the way he does it's a dirty way.. you can attract 300 - 1000 perday to view your video/ get traffic but is not the right thing to do.

I would like to know too.I have heard of this.I guess they just upload stuff to YOutube that they think people would like and what would interest them.I know I Like watching the business oportunities and also animals,and The Sims videos.They make them to music kind of like a music videos.Its someting I get into because I like every once in awhile to play the sims.

i dont think so
i think hes just some guy who has no life and therefore likes to make pointless yet pretty funny movies on youtube
i dont think people would really pay a guy on youtube
they just watch him and laugh
but i wouldnt be surprised if he got an acting job for a pretty big movie
if he has gained anything its probably a little fame
what i mean is thatnow when peoople see him on the street they probably know who he is
