I have three cats and over Fourth of July got a new puppy. Of course the first question from friends was are you geting rid of your cats? No, we are keeping the and adding a puppy. I have always had dogs and cats and had both at the same time. I have never had a problem of not getting along and this time is no exception. Our new puppy is a pug and her name is Dolly. She loves playing with the cats and the cats are really gentle with her. When they have had enough they will get to higher ground. Its fun to watch them play together and watch Dolly try to chase them. Tiger is the only one who doesnt get involved in the chase. She is pregenant and is fixing to have her kittens.
So have you ever had dogs and cats at the same time, and if so how did they get along?

I dont have cats, only dogs. However, i know they get well along cats, since they dont tend to go berserk or furious when they meet one while at their walks. My dogs look kinda indifferent towards cats, cats are always ready to start running away to safety, but dogs wont try to attack them. I think the fact that dogs hate cats is partly a myth.

no dogs but we had 6 cats for a long time and they did not all get along. it turned into groups 1.the upstairs cats. 2.the downstairs cats. most of them were upstairs and the dominated. they controlled the bed. the downstairs cats fought over who got the prime position on the couch. we loved them all. but then we had to get rid of one because she became an attack cat. she attacked visitors. which was new to us. usually most our cats would hide until visitors left. so we had to lock up our attack cat in a bedroom until our visitors left. wild.

Hi Snoopy,
Congrat's on becaming the proud owner of a little puglet... :)
I have 2 of pug's myself Nikki is a 2 1/2 yr old female & Yogi is a 12mth old male.
Also have 2 cats, one is just a tom cat and only shows up at feed time to get food and the other cat is a Blue Russian but she honestly thinks that she is one of our pug's and spends all her time following them around and trying to get them play chasie with her its so cute. and seriously the cat thinks she is a pug that bad that she even had her kittens in the dog kennel with the dogs by her side, I just couldn't believe it when I went out and seen the whole 3 of them in the box and the cat nursing 4 kittens. So yes I guess I can say that my cat & dogs get along very well the cat might be a little crazy but yes they get along well .... hahaha

I don't have any pets now, but when I was younger, we had a black lab and three tabby cats. They didn't get along at first, when the kittens were brand new, but the dog got used to them eventually!

i've had them together back when the kids were growing up but when i stayed at my daughters, she'd lock the cats in her room during the day and let them out at night, as i'd keep the dog in my room. she seemed to think my dog was going to bite them. we all tried to tell her they'd learn to get along but she didnt believe it.

We have dog named "Beauty" and cat named "Goody" before in the old house of my parents. But they really got along with each other. Maybe because they got along for many years though. Really nice to see them playing and chasing in a graceful way. *wink ^_*

We have a dog and a cat right now and yes they get along. They have always gotten along. I was a little surprised because even at first they didn't fight. We had the cat before we had the dog and I thought that my cat would have gotten mad or try to fight him but he didn't. They are both laid back and relaxed.

We have two chihuahuas and one fat old tabby cat,and they get along just fine, even though when we first got the chihuahuas, the cat would hiss at them, because she thinks shes the queen, and does not like other animals at first, but after they had been here for a while, she stopped hissing at them, except most of the time she ignores them and does her own thing, even though the chihuahuas will try to play with her sometimes which is kind of funny lol.

We have a dog and 2 cats at home. They get along as if they are both dogs or cats. Our dog's name is Casper the 2 cats name are Taba (for fat) and Payat (for thin). Disciplined home pets are like my daughter's playmates. They are not the typical fighting cats and dogs. They know that they belong to one roof. Whenever our cats are in trouble with neighbor's cats, our dog Casper is in the rescue for our cats. When our dog barks, our cats are looking at the same direction where the dog is barking at. Animals are like humans. Or let us say humans are like animals ahahahahah.... we speak to our cats too, at home. We bathe all of them and take care like humans. They too get vitamins and good grooming. They wanted to be cuddled. Our cats and dogs are best friends. My dog licks the cats body after breakfast is served, that how our dog love our cats. Other can't believe it but it happens.

Hey snoopy!
I have both. I have an indoor cat that I have had for 10 years, she has seen dogs and even other cats come and go. She isn't really fond of them, but on occasion whe will play with them and if she swats at them she never takes her claws out. I just got to new puppies, a male and female daschund. They are tiny and they are full of energy. They follow her all over the house and bark at her but she just looks at them like they are crazy. Sometimes she will get up high so they can't reach her. She's a little spoiled and I think she's a little jealous when new pets come into the house so I give her extra attention to make sure that she knows that she is still my number one. :)

I have a Pug and two little orange cats. They all play and wrestle around a lot. The two cats actually get into fights more than the dog and cats. They are really funny to watch together though.

I have ALWAYS had dogs and cats, and they've always gotten along. I have a miniature pincher and two cats, and they cuddle together and clean each other and run around the house together. They really love each other!!! Also, my parents have 2 dogs, 2 cats, and 9 ferrets, and they ALL get along with each other!!!

I have three cats and one dog. They chase each other around which is good cause my cats are lazy. One of the cats is trying to train the dog to do kitten things which is funny.
The dog can't swat like the cats but he will push at them with his paw.
