Yes moringa is called Malunggay here in the Philippines. It's Kamunggay in the Visayan dialect. It grows easily here in the Philippines. It's not only linked to Diabetes. I remember my mom using it to clean one's wound. It has bitter taste when it's raw but Ampalaya is more bitter. Ampalaya is also said to cure Diabetes.
When it's raw it has lots of Vitamin C. When it's sundried it has lesser vitamin c but a whole lot amount of calcium. Filipinos make malunggay soup for lactating mothers perhaps because of its calcium content. I heard it is a complete food meaning lots of nutrition is in this plant. I even read one article on the net a long time ago that African people are planting moringa to fight malnutrition.
