My wife and I went out back as usual each morning, checking the gardens progress. Things are really growing now with the rain and sunshine and heat the past 2 weeks. We got our 3rd bowl of strawberries in 8 days now this morning. A lot of large ones this time. Dad will be enjoying them this afternoon. We ate Cheerios cold cereal for breakfast with sliced fresh picked sunshine warmed strawberries on top. Yummy. Do you like fresh strawberries sliced as a topping on cold cereals? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I was feeding the chickens earlier whilst my younger son pootled around the garden. When I turned around, he'd gone! I found that he'd climbed the wall in order to get at the strawberry bed and was happily locating and picking them. I let him have all the red ones, as he really deserved tham after putting in that much effort, but then he threw a whopping tantrum because I wouldn't let him have the unripe ones too. Sometimes kids are just never satisfied! No strawberries for me on my cereal, but I had blueberries instead which were delicious. I'm getting a double handful a day now, which is brilliant.

I like my strawberries dipped in sugar or with cool whip. Unfortunately nothing but the tomatoes are growing good in our garden. We planted everything late, but it's not that big of a deal as this year was really a trial run to see if anything would even grow out here. I plan on having a big garden next year and I plan on starting earlier. The strawberries are looking good!

I love fresh strawberries. They are sweeter and much better than those you get in the stores. We were hoping to go pick black raspberries today. My younger grandson calls them cranberries. So cute.

Yes, they are much juicier and sweeter than store bought ones. My Red Rasberries were cut to the ground last fall. This I did to help them spread this year. They have spread like wildfire too. When you prune them to the ground as I did they don't produce berries the following year so next year I'll have a lot. I have a few this year though. Maybe a small bowl full is all though. Hey Grandpa Bob. No, I do not care for pieces of fruit in my cereal, never have. I'd rather just have my cereal with milk poured on top of it, nothing else.

I put sugar on my cereal once before, but didn't care for the grittiness that came along with it.

I love fresh strawberries, but do not grow them. I am excited, I have apples beginning to show color, and then I also am going to have a good amount of grapes this year, and tomatoes coming on as well.

Last year the real estate agent managing the property next door had mine cut down in spring grrrr!!.Clear to the ground. I think you really are not supposed to prune them that far. In fact, it must have been two years ago that she had them cut clear down. We watered, moved the fence while the house was vacant, and this is the best year they ever have had. Maybe your second apple tree was in bloom when you had a late freeze.

Oh I'm so jealous! Fresh strawberries?? Woohoo! I love them in cold cereal. They are good in corn flakes too! And you can't forget slicing them on top of vanilla ice cream. Man, you have it made there with your little garden! That is really exciting!

The one photoed here was about the size of a teaspoon. Not very big but very big on juiciness and sweetness. Some I get are huge. Those get eaten before I can grab my camera though. I got one the other day that was about the size of a golf ball. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I've a huge area that I need to prepare for the strawberry plants spreading. It is an area that used to be all grass. Well most of it still is. I need to get a tiller or sod cutter to clear the area of all grass etc to make for a huge patch for them to spread. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I love fresh strawberries! I've been trying to get hubby to talk some of the farmers that he delivers fertilizer to to give up some of theirs, but so far he hasn't come home with any. Maybe he's eating them all himself. LOL

Wow good thing that you can easily grow these fruits on your backyard. In my place there is only one place that they can plant these fruits as it needs a cold climate and my place has only one place that has that in the far north of the island. And transporting that is with care as if you try to transport that fruit from the highlands down it will reach your home rotten. Anyway, I really like eating strawberries, its a rare treat to see those in my place.

I really don't know it strawberies would grow in our area. I think it will not survive in a weather like ours. Most especially that I live near the sea and our soil is a little bit salty. Well, I do love strawberries.

Strawberries are lovely but they are so expensive to buy and so it is not very often that we have them. Although I have been told that they are going to be on offer in my local supermarket in the next couple of weeks and so maybe I will get some then!

Hi Grandpa, I do love strawberries on my cereals. But what I really love is to eat them fresh. It's a good thing you have grown strawberries in your garden. I love to have one grown here in our place but that will be impossible to do so. Have a nice day. HUGS!
