fruit basket or basket of flowers?

Supposing your had been sick or had an operation and your friends from a club you belonged to or your co-workers were going to send you a get well gift, would you prefer a fruit basket or flowers? That actually happened to me when I had my gall bladder out, I was a member of a group and my friend told the members it was better to send me a fruit basket, I would appreciate that more than flowers, turns out she knew me well she was right. What would you prefer, fruit basket or flowers? and why

I would prefer the fruit basket. I'm certain all of the mouths on this board just dropped wide open; however, a basket of flowers means cut flowers that don't last long. If you had said a potted plant, then I would have selected the potted plant. I love growing plants.

true, just that they knew I had cats, and were afraid they might eat the plant, so they felt fruit would be more beneficial and it was for me.

well fruit are wonderful... but most people who just got out of surgery probably wont really be in a eating mood for a few days afterwards... flowers on the other hand always brighten one's day.. also, if you can manage to find a flowering plant that would be even better because then the plant would live longer and the person could keep it longer and enjoy it more than just the flowers themselves... i hope this helps you pick which one is better for your situation!

I already said my choice was the fruit basket and that is what they gave me, this question was asked of you, what you would want. Most people are saying fruit though, but there are still some people saying flowers.

Well, I love both flowers and fruit and althought the flowers would be beautiful I am sure, I would totally appreciate the fruit basket more. I love fruit and I think I would get more enjoyment out of the fruit and it would last longer then most flowers. I have only ever gotten flowers from my hubby 2 since we been married and I have never gotten a fruit basket before.

I think I would prefer the fruit. They will help you recover, their yummy and it saves you money. Flowers are great, they are pretty and smell good but don't have much use beyond that. Ever practical.

I'd actually prefer a spa basket, with soaps and bubble baths, and candles, stuff like that..it would help me relax once im back home, after the pain from the operation has passed of course!

I have the same preference as you. If you send me flowers, I can't do anything with them except look at them once in a while. It will also be troublesome for me to keep remember to change water for the flowers. With fruits, I get to keep and enjoy eating it slowly. Even distribute it to friend who come and visit me too. Giving fruit basket is more practical.

both have the traditions to help you feel better when you are sick, that is why they are chosen.

I think I would prefer the fruit basket over the flowers, I'm practical. With a family, the fruit would go further, than just with me. It would been nice after I had my kids, to get even flowers in the hospital. I got a balloon from a stranger, and a another balloon, with a teddy bear when I got home. At least with the fruit, my kids will have fruit to eat.

Definately a fruit basket. Flowers are nice but I have asthma and some or two many are sometimes bothersome for me. Besides I like to eat that's the reason I look the way I do, and I love fruit. NO cantelope PLEASE. Just the smell of that stuff makes me ill.

no there was no cantelope that I can remember, but remember these baskets are already made up in advantage and cost way too much lol.

I'm going to be a "bad" girl and say neither...LOL. To be honest I'm just not a big fruit eater, and while flowers are nice they don't last that long...so instead of either I would think it more thoughtful if a person bought me a beautiful live plant. Such a plant would outlast both fruit or flowers and would be a continuing reminder of friends who thought of me while getting well

If it was summertime I would like the fruit basket . During the summer is when I do most of my fruit eating . I love flowers too , but I am sure I would have many already and the fruit would be such a treat . Both are very nice gifts and I would be happy either or

I would prefer the flowers. I know that I wouldn't eat the fruit-- especially if it isn't organic.

For me, neither would be good. I find flowers as symbols of insincere feelings . And I would eat most of the fruit in the basket.A card and a little stuffed animal would be better for me.

flowers are the symbol of sincerity and love, especially roses, I don;t see how you would think otherwise. but anyhow that is your choice.

I have seen too many times where a guy thinks giving flowers would make up for something he got caught doing. Something he will do again if he got the chance. But That's just me. If your friend loves flowers, then send flowers. The same with the fruit basket.

I would prefer to have the fruit basket also. I could benefit more from it. I love flowers but they do not last long and they are not very beneficial to me. I would rather have something healthy to eat that would help to rebuild my strength and immune system after having surgery.

I'd probably want a fruit basket - flowers just die. Tho I did have surgery and a friend of my mom gave me some WONDERFUL tea tree handsoap.

Both are very thoughtful gifts and I would appreciate either one but I would think the fruit basket. Even if there were things in there that I could not eat at least I would have things to share with others who come to visit.

I'm going to be greedy here and want both as I love flowers as they cheer me up and the fruit I would be able to eat and enjoy. In fact a pot plabt would be good to go with the basket of fruit as I could keep forever as flowers don't last and die. If I did have to choose between the two though definately the fruit. Ellie :D
