Hi alienstar, I always go to a dictionary when I have a word I do not understand and that makes the difference. I think to improve language skills you need to read and if you come to a word you do not know look it up in the dictionary, helps a lot!

well i simply luuuuuv reading dictionary.. i think it's the best way to improve vocab..v come across new words..i even go for it while surfing; reading articles..words that r new..i'm not familiar with, i always go for one. it all started when i was in seventh grade. my teacher had a really good vocab..and we seemed to b nobody infront of her..we all called her names like "miss thesaurus" or "miss dictionary".. it was fun..but it also made me realize that though a foreign language, improving english is not a difficult job at all. if she can do it, then why can't i??

I only read dictionary when the need comes and when I am away from my computer...Usually when I am in front of my computer and need to know the meaning of a word, I use the thesaurus in MicroSoft Word or sometimes Internet...

I'm not a native English speaker so I have to use the dictionary regularly. But I'm not nerdy enough to look up an English dictionary just for fun. But I thought the people who are addicted to Scrabble will like doing that to beat others... (yes, I used to be one of them)

I often refer to dictionary.com or thesaurus.com when I don't know the meaning of a word or want to find a more creative way to say something. Though, when it comes to just reading material, I'm more likely to read encyclopedia or wikipedia rather than just the dictionary, because when I'm reading for fun, I like to know more about a thing than just the definition of the word.

I don't use the dictionary nearly as much as I should but usually use it only when I need to know the meaning of a word or how to spell it correctly. I don't think we even have a dictionary anymore. We always use the internet dictionary these days, which is really nice. But I am always busy reading other books so I just can't get interested enough in a dictionary just to sit and read it. I would probably be a lot smarter if I did though. :o)

I used to read the dictionary when I was younger, but I don't do that anymore because I don't see the personal need to and because I probably won't remember the words anyway. I just refer to the dictionary when I need to. I am signed up with dictionary.com though and I get the word of the day everyday. So I learn new words everyday. It's pretty cool. I do it because I am a student and I know they will come in handy when I have to do research or write a paper

I keep a thesaurus next to my laptop computer, and I use it a lot when I'm blogging and just can't find the right word! I don't read the dictionary, but I read a lot, and I look words when I don't know, or can't remember, the meaning.
Except these days I use dictionary.com instead of the paper dictionary.
