What food makes you feel happy?

I did a search online for what food is supposed to make you happy, here are some of the various results I got: lobster, turkey, asparagus, sunflower seeds, cottage cheese, pineapple, tofu, spinach, bananas, oranges, walnuts, chocolate, salmon, milk, whole grain rice or pasta, broccoli, blueberries, yogurt, eggs, black beans.
Is there a food that makes you feel truly happy or a comfort food that you like to eat when your upset? If so, explain why.
My favs are chocolate ice cream, tea, orange juice, tacos or nachos (any kind). I tend to go for junk food. My ultimate favorite has to be Cheesy Potatoes, a recipe I got from my mom. They're pretty much southern hashbrowns with sour cream, cream of chicken soup and tons of cheese, baked in the oven with crushed chex or potato chips as topping. Horrible for you but they're delicious and comforting.

Morning princessdian, The food that makes he happiest is probably pancakes with sugar and lemon. Making pancakes is part of my Sunday morning ritual, when I chill out and do what I want to do. However, if I am in a desperate hurry to calm my nerves then it will have to be some dark chocolate. For many years I always ordered the Tiramasu as desert when I was eating out, but that phase is now past. A rhubarb tart will do nicely these days. Have a great week. UMart

Well y'know, with the story last week that watermelon can have a Viagra-like effect, I guess it depends on how the individual defines happy...
But seriously, I like watermelon, not because of the whole thing above...It makes me think of relaxing, since I would always eat it between football practices when we had two-a-days...probably will again this year, too.

Soup is filling and delicious. It's especially lovely in the fall and winter when it gets cold out.

For me the best comfort foods are the ones I should most likely stay away from like chocolate, ice cream (which I love in the Summer), pizza, pasta, fresh baked bread and butter, home-made chocolate chip cookies, milk shakes and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Momentarily, any one of those foods can take me out of a very bad mood.

It's too bad that our favorite foods have to be bad for us. But when you think about it researchers seem to change their minds daily whether a food is good or bad for you so I guess it's best to say everything in moderation. lol

My best comfort food is ice cream. I love to eat ice cream year round and I like trying different flavors. There is an ice cream shop just down the road that has 30-40 different flavors and it is great to go there and get what is called a 4 scoop sampler so I can have 4 flavors at one time. Ice cream is a food that makes me happy and my oldest granddaughter is the same way.

well i've got lots of happy food. basically anything that tastes good is happy food for me. i love food that is cooked well rather than a particular kind of food. it can be anything, spaghetti or fried chicken or just a bowl of soup. if it taste good, it makes me happy. well, if i must find one kind of food that makes me happy, it'll be fried stuff. you can deep fry anything and i'll eat it. even if i don't eat them when they are cooked otherwise. ;p

ooohhh mozartlla sticks is my favourite too. I love cheese especially when it's melted. It's really heaven when it is freshly fried. The feeling of pulling the cheese out of its crispy she'll is really good. Now I'm craving for it already. ;p

I also like deep fried foods especially mozzerella sticks. I don't eat fried foods very often so when I do it's like a special treat to me.

I like pizza. i also like any kind of a restaurant meal. Potato chips or a rich delicious soup are good also. The first things on the top sound like health foods they may be good for you but I dont think they would make me particulary happy.

They wouldn't make me overly happy either. But I think if you made a lifestyle eating foods like that everyday it would probably improve your mood because it would make more serotonin in your brain. It's just what I found on some websites. I thought I should research the topic and share what I found.

During my trip in Malaysia, the flight somewhat affected my appetite. I don't know. It was my first time to take a plane and I never thought that it would affect my appetite. I felt like I wasn't in a good mood to eat no matter how interested I was to try Malaysian food. During my second day, I thought of eating my favorite food to get back the eating feeling. We went to sushi king and I ordered my ever favorite shrimp tempura and california maki. This pair always makes me feel so happy. haha!! Other than those, having some vanilla ice cream and chocolates makes me grin too. I get so awake if I have some sip of caramel macchiatto from starbucks or Mocca iced blend from Coffee bean. :)

Hey hey
All the wrong foods make me feel happy . Like chocolate and chocolate chip cookies . I have never been able to have either in small doses . I suppose a good fruit salad will make me feel happy , and nacho's at a ball park . For some reason I agree a banana put me in a good mood the other day , or maybe it was because I was out it the sun when I was eating it . When I am sad again I like all the wrong foods . So either when I am happy or sad I eat . Creamy , fluffy things put me in a good mood.

I agree, noodles is a very big part of the asian culture. I used to eat so much ramen (because I'm a college student and it's inexpensive) that I eventually ended up getting sick of it though.

I'm a sweet lover. I love to eat icecream, cakes, pastries name it i will eat it!!!!! But since, i'm not young anymore, i need to eat healthy food. Like vegetables, non fat milk, pasta made of vegetables, less meat but more fish. boring ha. But it's healthy and it will make us live longer.
