Hi.
Opening a computer case is not a big deal. i have done it a couple of time myself. Opening a computer casing does not increase its performance but reduces it wear and tear that too not significantly but slightly.

my friend it is not a big deal if you open the computer casingif you know how to close it properly again. Although it will not matter to much if there is a small problem and closing the casing but I think you should never take a chance. Actually it is not a very difficult job to do and I think we can fight out yourself. Just make it a point that before you are losing a screw make sure there is an attached to it if you're not a mature that if you opened that reticular thing whether you be able to fix it again not then I think you should not take your chances because anything placed improperly will result in big problems and you may have to spend a lot of money on it again to start. I have done a harder course and I'm pretty much aware about what other parts and how they are placed inside the computer and so for me it is not a big job to open. I would suggest you to ask one of her friends who knows about these things to get yourself train about the same.

First... there are a of us computer geeks that don't even have a CLOSURE to our computer cases.
Second... no it usually doesn't make it cooler and if it does it is not by much IF you have the right kind of fans installed in your system... cool air in hot air out.
Third... what you will find is that there is actually LESS dust because I am assuming you are not forcing air into the case so in my experience there is less dust than having forced air into the case.
Fourth... even though the case is open... don't unplug/touch/whatever anything unless you KNOW what is going to happen. Always ground yourself when the computer is off and for God sake make sure the power supply is disconnected.
Fifth... no you should not see any performance increase
Thanks
Zelo

I have never been electicuted before but I have tried to plug in a hard drive while the computer was running... got my own little fireworks show and knew instantly I 'fried' the hard drive... somehow the motherboard was fine. Usually it is the other way around.
Thanks for a great question.

Nah, its not a big deal. It actually doesnt get any cooler, but when you open it. You will see all the dirt whats in there. Clean those up and it will get very much cooler. If you leave the dirt there it might even overheat your computer in the worst scenario. So it is really recommended to clean out the dirt inside your computer case. Ofcourse be gentle as some parts of computer are easily broken. Best luck to you :)

You must understand that heat doesnt affect your computer's performance. It is not like its getting slower when its hot. The cpu and the other electronic devices work the same at all temperatures.
The difference however is on their reliability. A PC that has worked many years on warm climate will cause problems more often than computers that worked at cool ones.
Now, about heat...it will not affect performance, but if it is excessive it can cause your system to restart. This happens because it is a safety routine to help lower the CPU temperature, and thus protect it from burning.
The pc cases have fans on the front and back side. The front ones "inhale" air, the back ones "exhale".The result is there is a "wind current" in the pc case, which helps cool down all devices.
This wind current will be affected if you leave the window of the case open. The extra air that might enter from there doesnt cause a current, thus the most important devices, like the mainboard, isnt cooled at all!
From mye xperience, letting the window of the pc open wont help you even lower the temperature. In fact it might increase it, due to all the factors named above

the only risk i could see if you let your computer case open is the dirt that will freely enter the system..soif ou dont know how to clean if properly i suggest you not to do it...you can just either put an external fan so that it will be cooler...dust damage the sensitive part of the computer...thus the case acts as the protective covering and holding each part in proper places..

I notice my computer runs much slower when it's hot outside. We don't have air-conditioning. I put a small fan blowing toward the tower which seems to help a little bit. Taking the case off and giving the works a good cleaning with a shop vac and small suction tools will help too.

It depends on the windflow in your computer case. I build computers and I always make sure to have my wires organized, and fans aimed correctly. If your case has excellent airflow like mine, opening the case will actually cause temperatures to be higher since air won't travel through the case completely. If your computer has poor airflow however, it may help a little bit. You should probably check for articles on how to improve airflow in your computer case. Keeping temperatures down will help your computer work faster and last longer.

Nope it won't improve your computer's performance if not retard it- exposing the interior parts to air will probably block the the ventilation from the computer fan causing it to overheat and not to mention the increased possibility of damage to the delicate components in the absense of the casing - if your going 4 looks, try getting a custom one...
