"Fairfax City police said they found 17 exotic snakes, 12 of them venomous, inside Room 11 of the Hy-Way Motel near Fairfax Circle on Thursday night after the motel's management alerted them to a foul odor. The snakes took up residence at the Hy-Way on Sunday and were not detected by the housekeeping staff because they were concealed in luggage, police said."
I'm glad I wasn't staying there!

Where is Fairfax City? I want to be sure that I don't go there anytime in the near future. I hate snakes and I can not imagine having that many of them in one room. What would have happened if they had gotten out and hurt a housekeeper? I bet they were being sold on the black market.

I wonder if this is the same thing I heard, or if it's something different. Didn't these snakes have to do with some kind o religion that promotes snake-handling, and didn't a group of members who ended up getting bused for this? Is that what happened, or am I mixing up two similar but totally different stories?

Well, I'm glad I wasn't staying there either. We were going to take a little trip a while back and I researched the hotels in the area and learned that one of the "better" ones had been written up in the news for having bedbugs! Now this was not some unheard of motel in the sticks, it was a major chain in a fairly prominent city, with per night room rates in the triple digits.
We stayed home.

Hi Bd200789! Oh my, that must be really scary! I am glad that the housekeeping never encountered any one of those snakes. Yikes! It is a good thing though it was detected before anyone got hurt. I am glad too that I wasn't staying there either.
Take care and God Bless!

How long had those snakes been there and how did they get there for them to take up residence in the hotel. Where they in someone room and the person didn't know or something like that. Or did someone bring them and leave them there? I know that was not a pretty site to find all of those snakes in one place. That is really something for them to bring snakes in a suitcase and leave then. Do they know who did it or not?

I am glad that I was no where close. I cannot imagine how surprised they were to find them in that room.
