Why on earth does computing need to be so complicated?

I'm jumping on the web 2.0 bandwagon a bit late, perhaps already too late, and I feel like learning to build a website is a gargantuan task. I'm not THAT old... not 30 yet, but there's so much information out there that I don't know where to start. Apparently now there's XHTML that's supposed to be better than HTML, CSS 1 is old (CSS 2 is going to be old soon and CSS 3 is on the way), you've got XML, XSLT, XSL, PHP, DSSSL and list goes on...
Does all this need to be so complex? Doesn't all this rapid change give more opportunities for malicious people to abuse the system?

This is the reason why I did not move up the html and css. It much simpler then, today techie in this field has to keep up with all that mambo jumbo XXXX. Even the tools are different, frontpage is prehistoric. Abusive individuals are as confuse as you are but they are so many. Tracking this bagards is really so difficult due to diversity. Lucky for me I had my time so good luck to you. You can manage it.

For the beginner, at any age, learning a new system or doing new things can be difficult, frustrating, and complicated. You do catch on after a while, and wonder why you were so frustrated.

A good tutorial for making a basic website is called Webmonkey. It's free. I wouldn't try to do anything complicated when your first starting out, that is an easy way to get frustrated.

Many web hosting sites offer their own tools that simplify the making of websites. Yahoo is one. There's freeware too that can help. Another great place for tools is Freeware Files, and again, these tools are free.
