This past season of Hell's Kitchen was the first I've watched and it made me decide to watch Kitchen Nightmares. I'm just wondering which one is preferred by other watchers? I'm having trouble deciding which I like better.

I personally prefer Hells Kitchen to Kitchen Nightmares. Hells Kitchen I will not miss an episode, but Kitchen Nightmares it depends if I get the chance to watch. I'll watch it just to see Gordon Ramsey though :)

I think I like Kitchen Nightmares better. They are more self contained and you can watch one without having to watch the whole series. Also, it is Gordon helping a struggling restaurant find it's way back to prosperity, most of the time. It is wonderful when the restauranteur really wants his help. There have been instances where the owner changes his mind part way through. He must be open to change and be able to take constructive criticism.
Hell's Kitchen is more adversarial and is a total contest to find the best chef to lead a new restaurant. It is more like Big Brother or Survivor, let's vote people off the island! Or in this case, out of the kitchen.

Currently I prefer Hell's Kitchen. That is mainly due to my pregnancy. Kitchen Nightmares shows some gnarly stuff that really makes me want to puke. I thoroughly enjoyed Gordon Ramsay's autobiography, too!

i saw a little of both. they are interesting when you can watch them back to back. i think if i had to choose that the kitchen nightmares was more interesting. i marveled at how he could turn an establishment around from floundering to being a success. he really is a gifted man. i don't approve of his yelling and reducing people to tears. but he sure knows his stuff.
