Has anyone done typing work from home?

I'm emailing a guy about a typing job from home.
Here's part of the email he sent:
"I am looking for someone who can do customer response a few hours a day. It's very tedious work, so little or no distraction is a plus! You will NOT be micromanaged, so you will have to self-motivate to get the job done. You will be paid upon completion of each job."
The catch is, you have to send him 13 bucks to get the "training manual". I KNOW there are a lot of scams out there, so I'm not going to just send someone money before I thoroughly research the guy first. It's signed Leon Seke.
So my question is, has anyone heard of him or found any legit site that pays for customer response at home?

Hey Megan,
I haven't heard of him, but be very careful. I have looked to find something like that to do from home, but haven't been lucky yet. I am too scared that they are all scams. If I could find a typing job from home that paid good I would do it.

Thank you for the response!
I plan to be very careful with any sort of job online. I'm hoping that I can find an honest, legit one soon! I will definitely let mylot users known, if I stumble across one :)
For now I'm just doing work on GPT sites. Have you tried any of those?

No what are those? I do some online surveys but none of them pay me and of course I do mylot but don't make much here because I respond to some discussions but there is no way that I could respond to 75-100 a day to make 5 bucks. LOL

Hi Megan, Opal here. I agree with the posters so far. No!!!
Do not do this. It is almost definitely a scam. I have researched
so many jobs online through scams.com and the one thing that they
always impressed on me is if you have to send money then it is
a scam! Don't trust this one. It sounds really fishy to me. There
are very few online jobs that are real. I have spent months checking
out sites. There are some writing sites that I have found through
spending hours going through sites like this one and listening to other
peoples experiences. You have to try and trust someone, but this person
is not that someone. If you want to know some of the sites that I have
checked into that I feel are ok friend me and send me a pm and I will
tell you what I have found out so far.

No, nonono. This job is more than likely a scam. You should never, ever have to pay for something when you're signing up for a job. Remember, in a job they are supposed to pay you. I would be very wary of this, and turn down the guy. If he was legit, he would instead let you know that the booklet, if necessary, would come out of your first paycheck to pay for it or something along those lines. You shouldn't have to pay for it before you start working.
