If I don't give a best response mark, would you still respond to my posts?

I really want your honest answer on this one. Sometimes I think that some discussions do not have to have a best response mark. Each person is entitled to his/her own opinion. So giving each ++ is enough. What do you think?

I would still respond of course. I have responded too to a lot of discussion that already has a best response.

It doesn't matter to me, it's your choice. And I think there's some topics here that doesn't need a best response. I respond to every topic that interests me. And to those that I can share my views and opinions too. In my opinion, giving rates is enough. Happy postings. HUGZ!
@Jemina (5770)

Exactly, Dhangski. I have had some discussions that really don't necessarily have to have a best response. Anyway, FYI I always give + to my responders.

When I respond to a discussion I do not respond to get the best response. In fact most of the time I do not get the best response and am quiet surprised when I get the best response. I respond to a discussion because I want to add to the discussion.
@Jemina (5770)
17 Jul 08
Excellent, Teapotmom... I also find it surprising when I get a best response mark and of course it adds a little sunshine to my day. I can attest to your comment. I know many of you here don't really care much about the best response mark. We do get credit for merely pariticipating, don't we.

I know it actually feels nice to get the mark myself. But most of the time I think I just respond without thinking whether I would get the best response or not. I don't see the discussions here as a competition. We still get paid anyway just by merely participating.

We get paid for responding and paid for best response. I find I mark best response on my discussions is when someone keeps the dialog going or they make me laugh.

I will always respond for as long as the topic interests me. I'm not after the best response award although it is a pleasure getting one. What I am really after is to be able to share intelligent and meaningful comments for a healthy discussion here.
@Jemina (5770)
17 Jul 08
Well said, Salonga. I really like your answer. Short and straight. By the way, are you either related to Lea or Jovito the former senator? I just thought I would ask.
@Jemina (5770)
17 Jul 08
Really? Oh wow, what a great kinship you've got. I used to always joke that Marcos is my kababayan and Jose Rizal is my ancestor. Both were genius, weren't they? Kidding aside, I do love Lea. She's up there but she's very down to earth.

Thanks my dear for your kind comments! Jovito is my distant relative but I have no relation with Leah but I think my voice sounds like hers! (ha!ha!ha!) Just kidding! I just love her voice!

I quite agree with you. It is not mandatory for any one of us here to select the 'Best Response' for every discussion. So far as I'm concerned, I'll not going to bother whether someone is marking the 'Best Response' or not. So far and so long the discussions are interesting, I'll take part in it without any prejudice.

That's good to know Nilzerous. I actually have asked this one because one time I got a reply that said something like, "I see that you haven't given the best response mark so I think it's worth giving my shot." Obviously, that person was after the pencil.

Well, I have some discussions that are hard to ever give a Best Response too, just because I never get enough responses to them, or feel that no one there have given me a Response back worthy of gaining a Best Response from me. I do make sure though to always Rate people, and try to respond back to others as well in my discussions if I can. I also try to Reward Best Responses from time to time where I can as well. Even if it takes me a while, I do get to them. I just find it takes a lot of time on here to be Actively doing all of the things you need to do, so that is why sometimes I might only start a Few New discussions in here as well.

You know? Sometimes it breaks my heart to give out the best response to just one person when I know others deserve it too. But unfortunately we only have one pencil to give away. However, I almost always rate+++ to all responses I get except for the very obviously nonsense ones.

It can be hard to pick only one response for best, so I completely understand that you sometimes just can't pick. I don't respond to discussions hoping to get marked as best, or for ratings. I respond when I want to.

You're right, Cassidy. It really breaks my heart to give the pencil to just one person when I think that others also deserve it. I guess to make it fair I will just leave some of my discussions unresolved. That means all of the comments/responses are best.

It doesn't matter to me my friend. As long as I have something to say, as long as I can relate to your discussion, I will respond to yours. I even don't have much time marking my posts with best response and giving a positive rate is even enough to make all other members participate more, be more active here on mylot. KEEP SMILING = NEIL

It wouldn't bother me if you don't give away a best response, I do give them away because I like giving people the extra attention of a best response. i try to give them to different people and not the same over and over again even if they make a very good point. A best response can also be a motivation for a mylot newbie to keep making a good effort, it's like a small reward. I don't think a best response means that the other responses aren't good, it's just giving someone a pad on the shoulder for a response you really liked.

How's the seminar going? Regarding the project, I am hopeful it will be a positive one although the result may take a couple more months to come out. I am trying to give time to mylot about an hour a day as long as I'm able to. I definitely can't get away from this site.

Hi Hero, I'm all right thanks. I know I haven't been on myLot these past couple of weeks. I'm currently busy on a project I'm experimenting on right now but can't really tell more about it for now. Anyway, I'll let you know as soon as it's finished. Anyway, with the best response thing, I used to be chasing them all the time when I first joined myLot. But now I've realized there is more to myLotting than just getting a pencil. Sharing information about anything is what matters most.

I don't have a problem if you would decide to not give a best remark. Sometimes it's hard to choose one, sometimes there isn't one. No big deal, to me that is. Don't know how anyone else will react. Have a nice day
@Jemina (5770)
17 Jul 08
You're absolutely right, Bieke. Sometimes there isn't really one best response. I guess it depends on the topic. As I've been reading to all who responded here everyone said that they don't really care much about the best response they still would respond anyway.

Great to know. When I started this discussion a long time ago, BR was something like a big issue. Like everyone was talking about it. It was during that time when most members are still on their way to get a star and there was some speculation that BR contributes to having a higher rank. As it turns out, it's not the case.
@Jemina (5770)
8 Jun 09
You bet. I may have the blue star but it's not a guarantee I'm earning more for my posts than those of lower ranks. It really depends on our daily performance here and how much we contribute preferrably positively to the myLot community.

I have heard of that too, someone told me that br is important as they help us to make more but I think that's not the case and even if it is I couldn't bother about it as I'm only interested and enjoy posting discussions that interest me.

I think whatever you said is half true. I think it depends on the discussion you started. If you have started a discussion which needs some answer and if some one has answered it then no need to open that discussion for others right? In that case you can close that discussion by marking it as best response (Whichever is the answer for that question). In other case, if it is a general discussion like this discusion, it can be kept open just like how you said. Thanks. Triguna M S
@Jemina (5770)
18 Jul 08
What do you mean? Which part of the paragraph is half-true?
@Jemina (5770)
20 Aug 08
As much as I appreciate your response but I think you miss some words in the paragraph. If you care to go back to the post I did say some discussions which means that I am not referrring to all discussions here on myLot. You just rephrased my post in your explanation.
• India
18 Jul 08
You said giving ++ is enough right? That is only true for a discussion which is opened for a general discussion not opened to expect an answer for a question. So I said it is half true as according to me discussions can be of two types. 1. A discussion which needs an answer. 2. A discussion which is for a sake of collecting information. Thanks for responding. Triguna M S
