I had two boys, one of which was very strong willed. He didn't spit, he went through a biting stage. I tried everything I could think of, like time out in the corner, putting him in his room, explaining how it hurt, etc. The one day I was sitting on a high stool in a restaurant and had let him get down on the floor as we were ready to leave. He bit the back of my leg and it really hurt. Well, that was it, I took him outside and bit him on the arm. I asked him how it felt and waited there in front of him, quietly not allowing him look away from me, until he answered me. I explained that I was very sorry that I had to bite him but that it was more important for him to know how bad biting hurt people. That was the last time he ever bit anyone. My son was three then. Maybe something along this line will help you too. Good Luck

Thank goodness none of my three boys have been bitters yet anyway. my youngest is only 1 so he still has time and he seems to be the one doing all the lovely things everyone keep saying oh wait till he does this or that and my other two never did any of them. Now my youngest seems to be making up for them. Spitting back don't help either he thinks its so funny. the other day my oldest was drinking water and he had been spit at about 10 times already that day so i told him to do it to him. well he did right in the face and my 1 yr old laughed so hard and then did it back to his brother again. i have to take his cup away and he has a fit,but as soon as he gets it back he will drink for a minute then its right to one of his brothers. it just seems to be getting worse instead of better. i can't not give him a drink all day like my oldest said i should do.lol

I have really never had a problem with my son spitting except for when he feels the need to spit out his food. But then just the other day he started to spit. I just kept reminding him numberous time not to spit that its a "no no" so he rarely spits anymore. The only thing I can think of is keep trying to tell him how bad it is. I don't know how you explain to your child when things are bad we call them no no's and he tends to understand. I just keep enforcing the no no and he eventually gets it. I am sorry I couldn't help more.
