OMG!! I took my boys, along with my sister out on saturday. It was my son's birthday and i wanted to do something nice. So I took the boys to this place called Dave and Busters. It's like a grown up Chucky Cheese. they played games and things while my siter kept me company at the bar.
After they were done and wanted to eat, we left there and went to Applebees for dinner. Of course the boy had burgers. My sister and i had chicken. I had the alfredo and she had a salad.
Well let's just say the next morning, i knew something was not right. My sister and I had to fight each other to get into the bathroom! I tell you it was not a pretty picture. I had me out of work for two days. Today is my first day back, but I am still not 100%
Have you ever had food posioning before? How long did it take you to feel better?

I sure have! Food poisoning is no joke. The nausea and the stomach craps are really unbearable. You will be miserable for the whole day or two.
Then comes the appetite loss for a good week!
I was literally on porridge for a week!
Eating nothing else but some sweet potato porridge and the medication. Giving my stomach a break during this whole time lest it gets upset again and the whole cycle of visiting the toilet, cramping to get the bad stuff out of the stomach... etc etc all over again.
It is no joke. Usually food poisoning will warrant a good rest from the doctor for at least two days. Are your boys affected by the food poisoning as well?

Well, I am glad to hear that you and your boys are ok.
Mine mine, that is one place you have to put on your list of NEVER TO GO for meals!
Is yours an isolated case?
Did you inform the restaurant of your case?
Did they do anything to compensate you for your medical fees?

I have had it a long time ago but I can't remember what I got it from. Anyway, it took a good week to get totally better and be able to eat right again. I guess it would be a good though kind of brutal diet.

Hey 34momma! I have never had food poisoning (knock on wood) but my hubby had it recently. It lasted about 24 hours for him. Hope you feel better soon!
Isn't Dave and Buster's awesome? We've been to the one in Philly. It's a lot of fun!

Hi,
I had food poisoning before. I am not sure what I ate that time but I remember clearly that I kept on going to toilet to do "big business" and it was very tiring. I couldn't sleep the whole night.
I took pills to try to stop it and I drank a lot of water. The next day I was much more better.

I got really sick one time from eating "natural peanut butter" I dont know if it was food poisoning or if I just had the flu, but I was really sick throwing up and
feverish. I dont recall having an excessive amount of diahrehea anyway that was 25 years ago and just recently I purchased some natural peanut butter that's how long it took me try it again. I dont like it very much. I dont think I will ever get it again. I also have had stomach cramps and gas from beans that were not soaked long enough. I'm not dealing with those again either.

Yes, I had food poisoning once and it wasn't pretty. I lived south of Houston and was in Dallas for training for the Census Bureau. I was supposed to have 5 days of training. The first night after class, the bunch of us got together at the hospital and decided we'd go out to eat to celebrate finishing our first day. We chose a 24 hour pancake place and I can't remember what I got - but it was different than what everyone else ate. By 3 a.m. I was so sick that the hospital security guard dumped me at the county hospital. What a horrible thing that was. Since it was the county hospital for people who didn't have insurance (I didn't), and since I was a woman having pains in my lower part and even though I knew I was having food poisoning, they insisted on sending me from doctor to doctor to check out all of my female parts. Seriously. In one exam room, I ended up making a mess from both ends. They finally gave me something to help stop the fluids from both ends and sent me back to the hotel. I couldn't make training the next day, so that ended my job. I got paid for the first day and the government did let me stay in the hotel for one more day while I recuperated, then sent me flying back home. Of course I got motion sickness in the plane going home too. And I have never eaten in that particular restaurant ever again.

That's too bad...I've never eaten at Applebees, thankfully. I have eaten at Dave & Buster's several times and they have pretty good food.
I did once get food poisoning from Red Lobster...I threw up (which I RARELY do) as soon as I got home and felt better the next day.
I hope you're feeling 100% really soon!

Dear friend,
Whenever I used to go out of my place to another States mostly I had got my stomach upset and 2 times I had been had food poisoning and after I had taken or risked to eat a different good for the first I do know what they call it was my friend who introduced to that food from a street shop. I hope within half hour I felt much tried and within next day I had to go to hospital for one week it was really a horrible. After that I rare take new foods or risk to experiment any new one from street shops. Moreover I may even take food or bread if I have to travel or any other reliable food from reliable shops or restaurants or hotels.

Yes, I had food poisoning years ago from fried tofu. I bought a pack from a local store and cooked my favorite dish using that tofu. There were three of us who ate that dish. But I was the one who ate most of it because it was truly my favorite. By evening, I started feeling queasy. By midnight, I was horribly nauseated and vomited several times. I also suffered from a really bad stomach ache. And had to go back several times to the bathroom, in the middle of the night.
My husband suffered from stomach ache but wasn't nauseated nor vomitted. And the third person only suffered from a slight stomach ache because she ate the least of the dish.
It took a couple of days before I started feeling a little better. But I was weak as a kitten. And my husband had to force me to eat something after my nausea and vomitting episodes finally passed.
After that incident, I never dared eating another tofu again.

Yes, food poisoning is nothing pretty to deal with. I may have had it when I was pregnant with my first. I was eight months along. I didn't know what end to hold over the toilet. It just came so quickly out both ends for such a long time. I couldn't keep anything down. I ended up in the hospital four hours after it began, because it wouldn't stop and the baby was in danger from the sudden loss of liquids. I already had started to have contractions. They pumped me full of liquids through an IV and gave me something to stop the contractions. Since it was winter, they couldn't decide on whether it was food poisoning or the 24-hour flu, but the symptoms are more for food poisoning as I was better later that day when they had gotten everything out of my system and me rehydrated through the IV. Probably the violent force with which everything came out so quickly took care of whatever was in my system. Only that my stomach couldn't take in anything for a while, including water. Boy were the nurses nervous. They weren't equipped to handle premies and had already asked my OB whether they should airlift me to an appropriate facility. Fortunately he took the wait and see approach opting for getting me rehydrated as quickly as possible.
Hope you'll feel 100% by tomorrow.

I think i have had food poisoning before also. I really didn't have the bathroom problem though but it sure made my stomach cramp severely. I know it had to be food poisoning because usually when I cramp, I need to go to the bathroom and use it. I just sat on the toilet though, sweating and cramping and then finally after about an hour, my belly stopped hurting. That was miserable.

I don't even remember. In all my life, I am sure I might have had some minor food poisoning but not that I can remember just now.
My husband did have food poisoning a few years back and although the worse part was over in about 2/3 days, he wasn't feeling that well for a bit longer.

YES! OMG food poisoning is so awful! The worst case I had was when I went to this all you can eat pizza buffet downtown when I was still married to my ex. We had SOO much pizza and then we headed to a music and movie store. While I was in the store, I started to feel queasy, and then I had a panic attack like I thought the ceiling would cave in. When I could move again, I ran out in the parking lot and threw up. I don't know why he didn't get sick but I would not go back to that buffet.
BTW Dave & Busters is so cool! We have one out here that I've been to a couple times. Hope the birhday was fun!

Hi 34momma, when talk about food poisoning, the experience came to my mind the first is the experience which i still feel scary. Still remember that it happened in last year end. I was been invited to attaned one meeting which held in hotel and the vendor also provided the refreshment for us. The lunch is wonderful and i have taken few raw oysters also. When i back to work on next day, i started to few something not right after i have my lunch. For your info, my digestion is a bit slower than others. Then, i start to vomit and diarrehea until finish work. Luckily it was a weekend on the next day. After recover, i did feel that my digestion system getting worse which make me have to be extra careful before eating any food.

I had salmonella poison before, boy that is no joke. I went to the San Genaro fesival in New York, and had a chicken kabob. Probably three to four days later, I thought I would die. The stomach pains, vomiting and diarrhea, non stop. I was going to the bathroom right behind each other. Sleeping was the worse. I could not eat anything, trying all sorts of things to stop the vomitting and diarrhea. I lost my energy, I was out of work for three days because of this. I make sure that I do not eat any chicken out anymore.
It will take a while before you are feeling 100%. So sorry that you are not feeling well.
