Tell me about Firefox

I've heard people in discussions tell me I should have Firefox instead of Internet Explorer.
Tonight my son's friend came over and they got on the computer and I heard him say "You guys need to get Firefox, it's better than Internet Explorer."
*Where would I download it from?
*Is it hard to set up?
*Could I keep Internet Explorer too and click on whichever one I want to use, or do I have to uninstall IE first?
*Is there a way to import my favorites from IE to Firefox?
Thanks!

Hi, my friend said exactly the same thing to me and downloaded firefox on my computer a few months ago. I haven't used IE since. I find firefox is much quicker, easier to navigate and doesn't crash anywhere near as often! I hope you have the same experience of it!

I have both IE and FireFox. I only got FireFox (from Mozilla) because there was some site that wasn't working in IE at the time. I've found them both to be pretty similar.
I still have IE but I don't use it as much now. But yes, you can keep both. I'm not sure on importing favorites since I didn't bother doing that (the IE list I have is too long, I figured I'd make my most favorite favorites only on FireFox).

I've heard that a lot, I like IE, its given me no problems ever. I think Firefox is the new thing and everybodys clammering for it. I'm sure somebody will give the advice you need, it just won't be me. Good luck though, you can tell us all how good it is.

First of all, your son's friend was correct, if you do not have Firefox, get it now. You can find the download at the Firefox Website(www.mozilla.com). It isn't hard to set up and if you do not understand, on the download page of the website, it will explain step-by-step process into completing the set-up stage. You can keep as much browsers(Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Etc) on your computer as long as you have enough space to hold them all because the more you have, the more slower your computer will become.
Don't uninstall IE. You might need it because on rare occasions(once every 5 months) Firefox will have glitches to reinstall and you will need to have another browser ready so you can re-download it.
When you are downloading firefox, it will ask "would you like to important information from internet explorer to firefox" so don't worry about it.

I've been using Firefox for a long time. I did d/load the latest version and had problems,so I un-installed it and put back my old edition and have had no more problems. To me, it is much better than Internet Explorer.
I think Firefox asks if you want to import your favorites. They are called bookmarks in Firefox. I know they all came over to Firefox for me. There is an IMPORT under FILE in Firefox. And, I just tired it and a box popped up asking if I wanted to import from IE or Opera, both other browsers I have on my laptop.

It is not hard to set up but you do need to explore options and get it customized to work the way you want it. There is a free download and you can import your favorites. You don't need to uninstall IE. I use both when I feel the need. Cheers!!

You don't have to uninstall IE (in fact IE is part of windows and cant truly be uninstalled) You can even use both IE and Firefox.
Firefox will ask on installation if you would like to import favourites and stored passwords. It is really really easy to setup.
I like firefox better than IE - i like the layout and the tabs (the new IE has them too but they copied) I also like that it has fewer popups and if it crashes or your pc crashes while you are using it...when you open it back up it says "do you want to restore your last session"
You can download firefox at:
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/?from=getfirefox

There is no problem using both IE and firefox. And you can tell the difference once you tried using both. Although it is possible to uninstall IE, it is not necessary to do so. During installation, you will be ask by Firefox to import you bookmarks from whatever browser you are currently using. Try it. KEEP SMILING = NEIL
