Maybe the reason they were dying is because you were cleaning the tank too much... You are actually supposed to leave a tank running for a week -month before you even put your fish in it for the first time... this is to build up the bacteria in the tank that the fish need.... and you should not clean the tank that often... but when you do clean the tank you should not take more than 75 percent of the water out.. only on rare occasions anyway... and then after you have cleaned the tank you should but a liquid called Stress Coat in their tank.. it is self explanatory, but it is mainly a slime coating for the fish that it needs.... Anyway, the goldfish that I currently have, I bought a year ago and they are thriving (knock on wood lol).... I hope this helps!.... Also goldfish need plenty of oxygen bubbles! :)

I have owned goldfish over the years and they seemed to live a long time if we kept the tank clean, algae free, and the ick out of it. We do not have anymore tanks though. We got rid of them. We do have a small garden pond outside though and recently put goldfish in there. they are still living. I hope they live for a very long time and grow and get bigger. Try to make sure to use dechlor to take the chlorine out of your water and also treat the tank if the fish gets white spots on it, called ick.

When I was single I used to have a large tank which I put in Goldfish. It lived for for a long time until when I started working far in my place that the fish started dying one by one. I think you should not make the tank too clean as it may also affect the natural flora and fauna of the fish. Well over feeding may also be the cause that makes the water rather foul which is not good for the fish too. What I fail to do as an aquarium enthusiast is to breed the fish myself. I was able to breed one and let it grow but I never had tha chance to breed en masse.

It's very strange that sometimes goldfish is so easy to be raised. However, sometimes it can also die next day. I can't figure out why. I suggest you to try to have guppies because they are so easy to raise and they also have babies easily. I am serious to say so. If we live in the same place, I would like to give you some guppies because I have a lot right now:) At first I just bought 10 guppies. But now I have so many and I even gave some to my dad but I still have more in my aquarium.

My fishes live over several years. I don’t they are goldfish, but it is still a fish family.
My fishes live in a very big tank with the pump that provides them with oxygen and water filter.
Oh yes they also have a thermometer to check the water temperature
What I learn is when cleaning the tank, I need to leave half of the (old/original) water in the tank . This way when the fish is return to the tank, they still feel they are in familiar water and don’t go into shock.
Just something I learned from the pet shop.
