Thursday afternoon I went to the Mall of America as well as to Minneahaha Park in Minneapolis. This place is awesome. But it does get tiring walking up and down the many steps to view the falls from different angels. Especially in the heat and humidty like we had here Thursday. I spent about 2 hours at the park enjoying my walk with nature etc. Once I got close to the falls the mist from it was relief for the heat and humidity. Do you walk to local parks for exercise or stress relief? Do you have any waterfalls close to you that you visit at all? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

That scene looks so nice and cool and refreshing. Sure wish there was a waterfall near me, honestly with the way the heat and humidity has been I'd dive right into it. Yes there is a park near me, but they don't even have the kiddie sprinklers here the way they used to when I was a kid

I was tempted to scale the fence and sit in the creek letting the rushing water flow over my body. The creek is only a foot or two feet deep at the end of the falls. The creek then feeds into the Mississippi River a little ways downstream. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

HI Grandpa B, That's a wonderful place indeed! We have no waterfalls near us, if we got, I am sure I am there each day! That is one of my favorite scene, it's very soothing and relaxing! Anyway, Im not a regular visitor of our park, it's quite far from us and I also don't have company! During weekend, not often, my friends with her kids and my hubby will go there since kids love to play there!

Top of the falls - From the top of the Minneahaha Falls
Actually the noise being this close was loud. But from the top of the falls the sounds of the rushing water was great and soothijng. Here's a shot from the top of the falls area. You can see the Minnehaha creek way at the bottom as well as the bridge that we walk across looking at the falls from the bottom area. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

We have what is called the Falls of the Ohio, but all it is, is a waterfall that falls from the river. It is not very steep or pleasant to look at really. We recently built a wtaergarden in my back yard. We have our own little falls back there that drops down into our garden pond. The goldfish love it. I think it is so pretty.

Minnehaha Falls is not really big either. It is just a tourist attraction because of the History of the American Indian's Hiawatha and Minnehaha. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

hi Grandpa Bob I live in a sort of park setting with lawn, trees, and flowering shrubs so when Iget stressed I walk around this large complex with over two hundred families and I get relaxed and unstressed.no waterfalls anywhere close here I do so miss that as we use to go to the black hills of S D to visit a lot of really beautiful water falls there. some are even on the internet I found out. lol its hot here tonight and humid I am sweating and it does no good at all even with the f an blowing on me. lol.

wow cool! Just like you,I always walked in the park when I'm stress. Beautiful places like falls or other nature is not accessible in my place we need to travel in a long distance to have nature places.

I live in California and we are used to walking in the heat, but we try not to do it too much for fear of a heat stroke.

Mom and I went to the park closest to here to walk this evening. We do that once or twice a week. There isn't any waterfalls there but they are redoing the park. There was a guy there working on it while we were walking and he was telling me that after they get through repaving it they are putting up new bathroom facilities, benches, and pavillion. I'm looking forward to that. The walking trail wasn't the best in the world but the new concrete they are putting down is a lot better to walk on.

That sounds like an awesome walk and beautiful! I'm jealous. The closest falls to us is about 2-3 hour drive and the hike to get to the falls about 12 miles. It's not one to do in the heat and humidity of southern Louisiana. However, this is on my list of things to do one day! If only I can remember it on a nice cool day when we are off work!

McKinney Falls - this is a nice shot
There are McKinney Falls park just outside of town. Don't get excited - this is Texas after all, but there is a little set of falls - maybe 10 feet. They can be pretty tho. Now, at Hamilton Pool, south of town, there is a lovely drop into what is actually a collapsed cave, but less water - I'll post 2 pix.

Hamilton Pool - It is a beautiful place, it wasn't a park when we went, but it is now
now for Hamilton Pool - I've actually only been here once when I was a kid with my parents and grandfather - he carried the dog down the steps

I love walking in local parks! the nearest waterfall to me (natural and not man made - most waterfalls in singapore that are worth calling waterfalls are man made) is in malaysia, the neighbouring state. it's called kota kinabalu, and it has huge falls that cascade down in torrents. people love driving there to view the falls and rest and relax cos the pace of life in malaysia is much slower and more relaxed than in bustling singapore. i recently saw an article in the newspapers about these majestic falls that border brazil and argentina. if it weren't so far away I'd seriously be tempted to visit! it's called the devil's throad. or something diablo in spanish. pardon my very limited spanish. hola!

No waterfalls near us...but there are some parks and nature walks. Usually we try to bike ride as a family to them as it is really hot and humid here also. The kids are little so walking is out of the question usually. We have to pick and choose our walks carefully so we don't get eaten up by mosquitoes!!!
