back home we only settle for the free tv stations available since cable connction is expensive and we cant afford to spend much money on the not so practical needs, with all the prices of prime commodities rising and our purchasing power is no loner that powerful. I enjoy cable connection here in the boarding house, we are lucky that our land lord gave us free cable connection since they will pay for the cable and all we can do is to enjo the blesign they gave us.

I do have a cable connection and wonder what I would be without it! I have a package where the cable internet and the basic channels on the tv are together. I was visiting my mother and she still has internet through a phone line and it was so slow! I am doing all I can to raise enough money to keep ahead of expensises. I store as much as I can in a freezer and travel with the car as little as possible. The trick is to make more but spend less! A real hard trick for some people!

We have cabel tv. Not by our own choosing though. We own an apartment and we all get the same deal from the common fund we pay into every month. It is a good deal though. Soon we'll get our internetconnection as part of the package so we'll actually end up getting the tv thing for less than nothing. We get about 20 channels. It's enough - though I'd like to swap a few. But it's good - no complaining really

No, I do ot have a cale connection. I don't have a TV at home (well I have one, it's just not plugged in or hooked up). I don't have cable internet at home either. I prefer to use the wireless iternet at The Second Cup, just up the street from where I live. It's cheaper, and they make better coffee than I do. ;)

Thats a very good simple life you are living my friend. The disadvantage of having a tv is that its eating up our time watching shows that are sometimes not that good. But for me while watching tv I do something and its something the whole family can enjoy.

I think cable connection is one of the best things that has happened. I remember when there was still no cable and people were confined to at least 5 local channels. Then I remembered when cable was first introduced and was quite expensive. Now cable connection prices are so competitive and more or less the channels offered are still the same. Of course having cable means added utility bills, but what's a few more pesos/dollars/ for entertainment in the comfort of your home?

Im just glad we dont have to pay for the cable connection, its would not be so enjoyable paying for a not so important extra charge. When watcing tv only have a favorite station and the cbale connection is not noticeable. have a nice day!

Yes, dsl is a lot btter than dial up, in dial up you lose all your time waiting for the very slow connection.

Yes, I have a cable connection because I have cable TV. They also provide my phone service as bundling was cheaper. However, my internet is likely to get shut off any day because I can't pay the cable bill because I haven't gotten paid. If I can just make it until Friday I can pay off the whole bill and not worry about my services. I don't know if I will though. I hate dial up so I hope I don't have to go back to that. My parents have dial up and it doesn't bother them because they don't use the computer that much. But as all my jobs require the internet dial up would drive me crazy within 48 hours.

Of course, dial up is too slow for a fast world, LOL. I used to have dial up and I changed to dsl coz its more convenient and I could really maximize my time here on mylot and other internet earning sites.

We have cable connection and it is much easier because you do not have to adjust the rabbit ears that will soon be defunct. There are some shows that will only appear on cable, and I do not mean the bad shows. I mean shows on the History, Health, and Discovery Channel, shows from other countries and in other languages. I do know that the more people subscribe to cable, it does get cheaper and I do like the idea of seeing something different from the same old thing.

Most people here have either cable or satellite tv. Many apartment complexes give free basic but you have to pay for more. Right now we have cable so we can have more stations. Next year the prices will all go up since everything will be going HD.

i guess it is not that you are lucky.. luck is something that is of a chance.. when we are already christians, we don't rely on luck. as you said, you don't believe in fortune telling. so as luck, don't beleive in it.. but instead, you are blessed... you are blessed to have the tv connection. we don't have even televesion sets here.. hehe

Hi Zel, You are very lucky Zel...I was renting before and it was not free to have a cable connection..I was lucky when my Sister and I moved out with a friends and 4 of us will divide it..It's nice really to have an access of different channels but not practical when you're just the one who will pay it, especially for working people and daytime no one will avail it!

Here in our place...yes we do have cable connections.I get to enjoy programs i use to watch back home.I get to know the latest news in our country. As of now both competing channels in the Philippines have respective cable companies here.We have choices, and since there's competition the prices usually goes down a bit.Fair enough,at least that is one point less in my homesickness

I currently have cable both for internet and TV viewing. We are debating switching to satellite and dsl. Although I know the local dsl is slower, we've been having issues with our cable internet dropping out at times which can really get annoying. The one thing we really like about having cable is the on demand programming. We especially love to be able to turn on stand-up comedy or documentaries when we want to watch them. We have a dvr but sine it's only in the living room it doesn't do us much good or when we are in the bedroom. No matter what you go with for television viewing, each option has it's own advantages and drawbacks.

I have heard here that cable internet is slower, the one that goes through the telephone system is alot better.
