My guy is Italian, so needless to say we eat alot of pasta. My favorite is a recipe he found in Bon Appetite. Its a Tuscan Ragu, where you simmer the sauce for hours. Its made with Italian sausage, carrots, celery, onions, garlic and of course tomato sauce. When he makes it I always ask him to make a large batch so we can have leftovers. When he isn't in the mood to cook I often will make spaghetti, or penne, or cavatelli. Cavatelli is good because it also has pepperoni in it and is baked with melted mozerella cheese on top. Back home we had a restaurant we would go to several times a year that made the best lasagna I've ever tasted. What are your favorites?

You never tried Chicken Parmesan!?? I have it all the time when I eat out. I've had deep fried ravioli a long time ago. I never see it in any restaurants anymore, but I do know how to make it. I should do it soon! Right now I'm working on trying to delete this stupid avatar I tried that had a transparent background that is showing up black. It keeps telling me I deleted it sucessfully, but everytime I post a comment it's back!

My favorite Italian food is pizza from Drags. If its eat-at-home, my favorite would be lasagna using my homemade sauce. My husband likes lots of mozzarella on the top and browned to perfection. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it.

hello, As for me, I am not that pasta lover, only few pasta dishes that I really like and these are meaty spaghetti, lasagna and penne in white sauce. These are the pasta that I always eat whenever I am in the Italian Restaurant. Can't seem to get tired to eat those. Love the meaty ingredients, the creamy sauce, the smell and the taste of the herbs and the richness of the melted mozarella cheese. Actually, just thinking it now, make my stomach growls.

My ultimate all time favorite is Fettucine alfredo with chicken...ohhh yummmy. I dont eat it often, cuz my doc calls it "a heart attack on a plate", plus hubby dont like it, so i only get it if we go out to an italian restaraunt, and thats maybe 2-3 times a yr max. Otherwise i like stuffed shells, as my second choice.

Yea I can't stand the alfredo sauce either - so agree with your hubby. I've never tried stuffed shells though. :)

I must have some Italian blood in me because I love pasta dishes, most any pasta dish I like. The one you said he found in Bon Appetite does sound delicious. My husband isn't a big pasta lover, only spaghetti but my son and I love it. I do like alfredo a lot.

Hi Tess I wish my guy was Italian. Unfortunately, if my hubby was Italian and he loved to cook, I would be three times the size I am now. I love pasta !! I like spaghetti, lasagna, mac and cheese, penne pasta, chicken alfredo, you name it and I'll eat it! Your making me hungry girl! Have a great evening, Char

I'm a ravioli fan, Tess! I particularly liked a fresh packaged one with smoked salmon in it - but it's been taken off the market, unfortunately! It was lovely - and was in big, round shapes. I hope they bring it back again one day.

I like most pasta dishes, but my all time favorite is spaghetti. I eat it so often, it's easy to cook, and it tastes great. I also like this other dish, I can't think of the name, but it comes in wheat noodles and has chicken in it. I like pastas that don't have too many ingredients in it, just plain and simple.

Occasionally I'll buy whole grain pasta. I should eat it more often, but really don't like the texture as much as the plain old stuff. I never think of adding chicken to it. I may have to try that sometime. Thanks for the idea.

That recipe sounds really great. Lasagna is my favorite too. I don't put in all that good stuff, but maybe I should! I also like making meat sauce. I was engaged to an Italian guy so I too got good tips on how to make the best sauce. I'm a good cook so I added some of my own touch and now my friends all want some to go! I don't mind. That's the best form of flattery.

another nammie one is spagetti with salmon/asparagus cream sauce. its easy to make, but you need to find salmon and asparagus. fry the salmon and onion in butter till the salmon is done boil the asparagus (in pieces) in water (if you use the white and thick asparagus only!!!) for 15 minutes untill they are done. add the asparagus (in pieces) to the salmon and the onion (straight if you use green asparagus since they dont need os much cooking). poor about 250ml of cream over it all and let it sudder for a while. meanwhile boil the pasta. add the sauce and be generaous with parmazano cheese! very filling pasta recept. enjoy!
