Welcome to myLot, Newbie! You're going to love our community! Add respect, please. Then, I think we'll have a fairly foolproof recipe!

i certainly do agree, and like the other participant in the discussion, i believe we should include respect there, when we love, respect and trust the other person, then everything should be happy and smooth flowing in the relationship. my boyfriend and i have been together for almost three years now, and the vital foundation and the secret that kept us together all these years are those things that we have just mentioned.

hey good going girl.Keep it up!If we learn how to love, trust, understand, respect and be honest with each other there ain't nothing in this world that can damage a beautiful relationship. It will grow more only with time. As we get older it will teach us even more to value and cherish the relationship that you are sharing with your loved one.It helps to keep relationship alive and warmth and fresh as ever.Am happy for you girl you have found someone to share this magical feelings called "love" with someone you adore so much.

I totally believe that these are the basic foundations of a positive relationship. Without these simple, yet complex things, no relationship can last too long.

I do agree, but I would add honesty and respect. I have seen so many relationships in which there is no respect. I believe that when the respect is gone, there usually isn't any turning back. Understanding is a tricky one. There will usually be some things that couples will not understand about each other, or disagree about. It is ok if I don't understand something about someone, as long as I have the respect to let them be themselves whether I understand or not. And agreeing to disagree is also a form of respect. It is like saying I respect your opinion even if i do not agree.

hey thanks..I added "respect" see my above response and now I got another that is "honesty".So it is now love, trust, understanding, respect and honesty. Wow!I completely agree with you.Every individual is unique so is their nature and behaviour but what holds them together is their love and trust for each other.

Yes, those are some of the basic foundations of a relationship. There are other factors that must complement them as well such as respect.
