Should you use a dictionary when you are writing for MyLot?

Hello everybody! I am an English native speaker, with a university degree and a further professional education and I still use a dictionary to improve the standard of the English that I write on MyLot.com. Does anybody else use a dictionary out there?
With thanks.

I guess if you are a horrible speller than maybe you should use one. I do not. The screen tells you when you are using a word that appears to be spelled incorrectly so I am not sure why people wouldn't simply use that tool. Typos happen to everyone but no one wants to look like an idiot. However, I don't think most people are using a lot of words they can't generally type, and those who are horrific spellers probably aren't spending a great deal of time on a posting forum.

Hi mscott. Good to hear from you. Yes! if you are a bad speller then you should definitely use a dictionary, but if you are a good speller and you want to widen the vocabulary you use in your sentences, then I think you should use a dictionary. I also find it useful to check or compare the American spelling with the standard English spelling. It appears to me that many people are not using the tool, but that is simply a first impression. Ask me again in 6 months time!
All the best from Cologne.

My spelling is usually good but I always use a spellcheck when I write articles, because it will pick up typing errors and show if I've used British spelling when I needed to use American spelling.
I will sometimes use a dictionary to check that I am using a word correctly, if I am not absolutely sure about its meaning.
I don't do these things at myLot because posting here is more conversational and good vocabulary, perfect grammar and correct spelling are not so important.
I do preview and edit my posts at myLot. I don't like it when errors appear in my posts, though sometimes they may still get through.

Greetings from England, Umart.
I'm a trained touch typist so my typing is usually good.
Have fun.

I am not an English native speaker and I'm sure I make lots of grammar mistakes, but when it comes to spelling, I don't use a dictionary, because I have a Mozilla plugin that automatically underlines the misspelled words, and I take a look at the word and I either correct it either replace it, if I don't know the correct spelling.

Hello stvasile, I find it good that you correct your spelling with the Mozilla plugin. It is big help. As a native speaker I can still make mistakes and I want to check that I am using the correct word. Spell-checkers do not do that for you. Well not yet! All the best from Cologne din Germania. Mulzumesc. UMart.

I haven't used a dictionary so far since I've been here, but mostly because I feel it's a fairly laid-back environment. Also, I have always been a pretty good speller, so really my biggest mistakes on here to this point have been typos. Expanding vocabulary is a good thing, but I don't know if it would work on here to use big words, because some people mis-read even the basics, so I like to be as understandable as possible since I'm guessing most people don't pull up the dictionary or something when they are on here.
But if you do that, then that is a great thing! It's never bad.. but I'd definitely expect some people to not understand certain words, I just say this because I have had my responses read wrong in the past using completely casual words, I suspected they probably didn't read it all the way or comprehend what I was saying.

I use a dictionary for words that I do not understand. English is my third language and is a forever learning language. Many people here should use at least for the basics. Sometimes I cannot even get a discussion title so wrong the discussion title is! Damn!

I never used dictionary while mylotting. I am not that good at english but it is all right to make others understand what i want to say.
I think you are doing a good job using a dictionary while mylotting. This way you are improving your english skill & earning money for that.
Nice creative idea.

Hello darksorrow, Yes! exactly! Just as you said, I try to do several things at once by using a dictionary. People have a better chance of understanding me. I am showing respect for the reader by making the effort to control my own language and they don't have to do it for me. Lastly I am doing as you said - I am trying to improve myself!
Greetings from Germany.
