What is the reason that the fast food are so expensive?

For me fast food is very inexpensive because I don't eat much. When I go to mcdonalds I only spend around $1.50 because I get a grilled ranch snack wrap and a water. Maybe you should start buying less expensive food like things that are on the $1 menu. People go to fast food because they don't have to cook, it's fast, and it tastes good. If go to a place that has specials you will also save money. Take for example the $5 footlong sub sandwiches that are being offered at many fast food sub resturants. They are very filling, delicious, and can be very healthy for you too. I try to avoid KFC because your right, the food there is expensive.

Around here, compared to most restaurants, fast food is cheap not only in price but quality. I don't really go to any fast food restaurants because most of it is so unhealthy and isn't that tasty. I only like Chipotle which is a fast healthier Mexican restaurant. I always get their veggie burritos or salad without cheese or sour cream. Their ingredients are fresh with no preservatives and some organic. They aren't too cheap but you get very large portions so I usually end up splitting it with my husband.

Well! prices of fastfood does not affect me much... I dont eat fastfood very often... We go to fastfood only if my friends are giving some party... So my friend pays... no problem for me... But yes! when its my turn to give party.. i feel prices are high.......

I'm not sure where you live, but where I live fast food is still a lot cheaper than eating out in a regular restaurant. Maybe the reason why it's so expensive where you live is because of the cost of shipping the food to that location. Those costs then get passed on to the customers.

Sometimes I like to eat fast food. Mostly though, I like pizza which is not fast at all. You have to wait quite a bit like 20 minutes sometimes. But when it comes all hot and delicious I forget about everything else.

Right now it is the price of getting the supplies shipped t the store. Diesel is at its all time high right now. But over all you are only paying for the convinence of it. Plus you have to remember, the US government raised the minimum wage which means prices will go up. Which no ones wants to remember that when complaining about the prices now a days. It all plays a factor.

Fast food is expensive because people are paying for the convenience, not because the quality of the food is so impressively good. I gave up fast food years ago, and I've never regretted it. It's bad for your health, is really not that good, and you can get a better meal for the same cost at a deli that's actually edible and healthy.

Hi sabahking, Fast food taste nice because of transfat they cook in and is not good for you mor and more young people eat and they get very fat so it very bad for you. They cost so much because the more people buy the more money they make and then they start charging more so that why they cost so much,pleae don't eat those fast food(Junk food). Tamara

hello friend,I think the reason is easy to make out.Because now there are more and more eating the fast food,it has been a fashionable lifestyle for the people who work at companies.They don't have the enough time to cook,or they are too tired after work to cook.and additional, because KFC is a famous international brand fast food,they are special fast food maker.so it is more expensive than others in my opinions.whatever enjoy our life is more important with a happy heart. have a good day

Hai Friend, I think maybe coz it title..like KFC, MC Donald....It a francise company and all thing i think maybe from oversea. People never mind eat fast food coz the quality the product.

One word: convenience! Fast food is quick and easy and convenient so they can charge a bit more than it's really worth just because they know that people will continue to buy it! Trust me...a McDonald's meal is not worth $6, you can make it at home for cheap. But you're paying to have someone else make the food for you in just minutes while you wait.

really sometimes i think fast foo an be cheaper like i can go to mcdonalds and only pay 3.24 i can get a large coke samll firens and a double cheeseburger :):) lol

It really isn't anything to do with quality or quantity, it's all about convenience. Your on the road, your hungry, you pull in and grab something quick to eat. Sometimes ppl don't have the time to go shopping and buy the stuff, go home and fix it and take time to eat it. The other side of the coin though is that for the most part convenience foods are terribly fattening and full of oil. You can get a few healthier choices from the menu but not many and those are even more expensive. Also you have to worry about workers spitting in the food, dropping it on the floor, tasting it...you name it. Several months ago I did a topic on the grossest things ppl have seen going on in fast food places and you wouldn't believe the gross things ppl do. I try to avoid them at all costs and I make sure that I eat before I leave home. If I absolutely have to buy something to eat I go to the grocery store deli where I can watch carefully while their getting the serving. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

I have not been there for ages now but i think if the prices had gone up, it could be because of rise in the prices of petrol and flour as well,as the name applies,it's fast food!

Yes, I eat fast food sometimes, my boy friend quite like the fast food actually. But I don't like. I think that the fast food are unhealthy and expensive, it will cause obessity of a person, but still there are a lot people like to eat. I don't understand why. I guess the fast food are expensive just beause they are famous.

Do you live in the US? As far as I know, having an expensive price in any fast food establishments products depends on the standard of living of the people there. Because here in the Philippines, (I just wanna share!), in every city there are different prices of fast food products(Like in Mcdonalds)because they are depending their prices in the standard of living of the people in every city. And another reason is the continuous price increase of raw materials they are using. I don't think that fast food chains are too expensive than restaurants. Because here in the Philippines, most people here are preferred to eat in a fast food than in restaurant. Since I think you're living in the US, I must say that the fast food chains there are also implementing that (i mean the price of their products depends on the standard of living of the people there), since we all know that US is a rich country that's why.

Not all kinds of fast food are expensive. In China, there are still Chinese fast food.in RMB, those can be much cheaper,KFC or Mcdonald in China, just like we need to spend dollars in China,then we should do a comparation between dollars and RMB.fast food just fast food,but different country's.

Before we start as the anme suggests Fast food is supposed to be food which can be taken quickly and usually has to be light. but nowadays fast foods are like normal Food which we eat.This happens because of the entry of Multi national brands Like KFC ,Mac Donald etc..They have branded fast foods and now we are more brand conscious than we are health conscious.As a result of this competition the Fast food varieties increase so as the cost.This is also compounded by the fact that Global price for various commodities involved in trasportation Like Fuel,those involved in the making of fast food like grains etc...have increased exponentially...I think thats the reason for increase in Price.
