DDR is the newer versions of RAM installed in motherboard for the speed of the system..SDR is a obsolete one.. there are only rare systems which has SDR!! DDR also has different varieties
1.DDR1
2.DDR2
3.DDR3
DDR1 is also an older version.. ONLY DDR2,3 is available in the market now!!

Hi there,
SDR IS SINGLE DATA RATE
DDR IS DOUBLE DATA RATE
DDR IS FASTER THAN SDR
SDR IS FOUND IN OLDER SYSTEMS WHERE AS DDR IS FOUND IN MORE TODAYS SYSTEMS HOWEVER NEWER SYSTEMS USE DDR2 WHICH IS FASTER THAN DDR.
THANKS

DDR - double data rate ram
SDR - single data rate ram
now the rate: rate is how many data transfer at a time. So DDR ram is more faster then SDR. Because DDR transfer rate of is double. The speed of depends on RAM bus speed mainly. So the DDR ram bus speed is more higher then SDR. The DDR ram bus speed now more above 800. Now there are more release DDR version DDR-1, DDR-2.

DDR is also SDRAM but with modified and enhanced data transfer capability. SDRAM is already absolute because no motherboard manufacturer makes motherboard with the suppor5t for SDRAM anymore. DDR ram will continue to use in recent and future motherboard. There re three types of DDR RAM available now: DDR1, DDR2 and DDR3.

SDR is an older version of Random Access Memory(RAM). It stands for Single Data Rate. It is much slower than DDR.
DDR stands for Double Data Rate.
Now the latest version of RAM is DDR2,i.e, Double Data Rate 2(version 2)
DDR3 is the most latest one... it has not yet gained commercial importance. But it will gain in few months as it is costly now.
