This is a shot of one of my Banana Pepper plants. After a long wait they are finally growing and amost ready to eat. Have you ever heard of banana peppers? They can be sweet or tart depending on when they are picked. They will turn a yellow if left to grow more and then they are sweeter. They slice easier when they are riper as well. But these are great in salads for color as well as taste. Do you eat banana Peppers at all? Have you ever had them on a pizza? I haven't and wondered how they do on a pizza. Thanks in advance all.

I have always had them on sandwiches but not pizza. They are one type of pepper that I can say that I do like, cause they are sweet. Hot peppers I try to stay way from but banana peppers are right up my alley. What don't you have growing in that garden of yours? I think that you have everything across the board in veggies. Thumbs up the the green thumb man.

That was the only thing you have planted that hasn't grown? Then that's fine from all of the other pics that you have shown of your garden that has grown. Again I would like to say that you have a beautiful garden and flowers. I know your neighbors come to you for tips on growing. Have a good one.

Those look wonderful...and so big! I tried growing them this year for the first time and mine are just little bitty things. Cute and yellow (although one turned red) so I picked them, but no where near as big as those. Maybe next year.

Those look great! I don't eat peppers but Tom loves them and said he can't wait to eat the banana peppers right off the plant.
He'll still have to wait a little while as mine are just starting to bear fruit. Cute little things, though.

Just don't. I do cook with them, but I don't eat the peppers themselves. Same with onion.

I am not sure if they are good on pizza, BUT I can honestly tell you that they are one of my top five favorite vegetables. I actually prefer them when they are qa little on the tarty side. Especially in salads or in subs....They are so wonderful...

For frying them it is better to pick them when they are a bright yellow.
Salads etc green and tart is best. Thanks.

I think you can also get hot ones. They do turn red eventually. I have not had much luck with gardens at this house. I have some peppers in containers, but I did plant them late. They like even warmer conditions than tomatoes do, so I always plant them later than my tomatoes.

I am the only one in my family that really likes hot foods. So I won't plant the hot ones as they would more than likely go to waste. Good luck with your peppers.

I have never had them but it sounds like a wonderful thing to grow next year! I love sweet peppers and usually buy the yellow bell peppers.

I have never heard of banana peppers before, I think though that if I had them then I would like them sweet as I like a sweetish pepper.

We used to grow banana peppers. But we haven't had any in years. I don't eat them raw, as a rule. But, when I go to SubWay, I always have them put banana peppers on my sandwich. They are delicious.I've never had them on a pizza. Don't know what the heat would do to them cooking. Might be worth a try sometimes to put some on a pizza. After all, we love the super supreme pizzas with everything on them. That probably includes everything minus the dishrag.

I tried a banana pepper once when I worked at Subway I though it tasted like vinegar and I could not get the taste out of my mouth. I have never tried one of those things again. Yucky.
