For the first time in my life..I have a wart. It's on my finger and it will not go away! I don't know what to do, I don't know how it got there...I've had it for about 2 months now. Will I have to go to the doctors to have it removed? It's embarrassing and it feels gross. Why do I have it? Will it eventually go away on its own? Help me!

Compund W - It's been around for years
Most warts at seed warts and do not need a doctors to ger rid of there are so many over the counter remvals now days to get rid of them. Try Compound W cam get in wal-mart and stores like that. You can go to the doctors and they'll freeze it off but you can get something over the counter to freeze off as well. You can go to your local pharmacy and talk to them about an over the counter medicine. Easy and as simple as that or you can look online just type in the search ... home remedies for wart removal or home wart removal.

Cover it with duct tape. It takes awhile, but it does work.

You can get some over the counter stuff that does basically what a dermatologist would do. It freezes off the wart, and it kind of feels like fire. I've been told by my mom anyway. She had one when she was a teenager, and they continually cut it off, but it always grew back. Finally they (the dermatologist) burned it off, which was using the freezing method, with dry ice.

It probably won't go away on its own and definitely don't touch it or you will spread it. Go to your Dr. and they will freeze it off. Or if you don't have Dr. cover it with clear nail polish and keep doing it until it is gone. Warts need oxygen to survive and the nail polish suffocates it basically. Hope it helps.

I think you should go to a doctor to know how to get rid of it. I can not help you because i never had one and i also don't know anything about it. One more thing. Will you share with me that how you put a animated picture on your avatar. Mine is also animated but it only animates in my profile page.

I have no idea. It just did it. I got it from an avatar site so that might have something to do with it.

My siblings and I use to get warts when we were children - they say from playing with tadpoles and sorts. We usually went to the doctor to get ours removed but I;m sure nowadays you can probably get something from the chemist.

There are several home remedies that I know how to get rid of a wart one that I've used for my daughter and it worked. Put vinegar on a cotton ball and then put it on the wart with a bandaid wrapped around it. Keep doing this treatment until it disappears. Another one that I've heard about that I've never tried is to put a piece of duct tape on it until it goes away. Hope these work for you.

Hi coffeeshot. This is another one of "my off the wall" comments. My daughter's hands were covered in warts. Multiple freezings, compound removals, nothing helped. (Don't let them freeze it more than once. My daughter had them frozen seven times. When I took her to a specialist to use a laser, he was horrified to discover her dr had frozen her warts so many times. He said once only.) We didn't get to try the laser because no one told us until we got there and waited for an hour that our insurance did not cover the procedure. We went home in tears. coffee- You can skip to this part - Okay, the miracle cure. If you are desperate - There is a product called Tahitian Noni Juice, make sure you only buy the original product. It is on record for helping asthma and tons of other illnesses. I got my daughter to submerge her hands in the juice, and the warts disappeared.

I would get some otc wart remover, like compound w or something similar. I believe I used something like that with excellent results years ago, and no, it never grew back and I don't even recall where it was lol. If it doesn't work, I would make an appt to see the doctor, they can also 'freeze' it off at an office visit. I don't know exactly why people get them, I don't think they are contagious or passed from person to person, but I also do not think they go away on their own.

The dermatologist told my son that warts are caused by a virus and will go away on their own although it can take a couple of years.

Years ago I had a wart right on my finger that I always was embarrassed about. I did everything I could think about. Then one day I went in and talked to a doctor about it and he said the best thing was to let him freeze it off. I did and I have not had a wart since that time. I am glad I let him do that.

It won't go away unless you inadvertanly cut it off - but trust me, that HURTS. You could go with one of the wart removers, but I find them only sometimes work. I also don't advise the freeze method - that only partially worked for me as well. they have a shot they can give you that the wart will fall off in 2-3 weeks time.

not usually-most times it either needs to be cut out or frozen. my brother had one he dug out himself, but i don't recommend that.that's one stubborn man (he hates doctors).

I had once several warts on my elbows. It looked gross. And my friends always noticed them. I don't exactly know where they come from. In my case, I really consulted my doctor how to get it away from my skin. After that, I was scheduled for a small operation. It was when the doctor removed my warts through laser. Now, they're all gone.

Warts are not very nice to look at in any part of the body... i suggest you soak your hand where the wart is... in laundry soap for a couple of minutes everyday... that will loosen it up and it will eventually break free... but if that doesn't work... then i think you should go to the doctor or a dermatologist to have it removed...
