I lost a $dollar$ again!

Hi Neil'-I used to work as a cashier in a supermarket but what bothered me was I made sure that the right change etc was given to people but still the following day I would of lost dome money from the till I had been working on,,it never made sense to me how that had happened..littleowl

I know how disappointing to loss some money.I've been experiencing that before many many times.But they said if you lose something you will gain more, i had proven that also.

i guess cashiers always encounter that..mistakes in giving change or whatever..i guess the last time i had lost something it was 2 decades ago and its my first time and it never happened to me at present maybe it was intentionally been taken by somebody when im out or maybe while im in the PUV.. to run some errands while at work..cant really point out where it was lost ...luckily i had some bills in my pocket that save me the embarrassment...

Hi neildc, I'm sorry to hear about that...I know how it ruins our day since I have tried that..LOL! We were assigned before to accept payments of clients and every year, people in charge will always lost like 200p-300p and they will count it several times and will go home disappointed since they will pay it..LOL! By the following year, My close friend and I volunteered to do it because we were challenge..LOL! first day, it was great, we didn't lose anything but by the second day we lost 30p..We divided it and paid but we are sad about it since we really take care in exchanging the money and all! No one is perfect indeed and even being extra careful will not work sometimes..LOL!

That's too bad. I was once a cashier before(I am not an accountant by the way). And I lost more than a dollar. $5 I think? (it was more than 200 pesos).. It was going to be a change to some of my customer. But, I forgot to lock my drawer and when I checked in the morning, there's nothing left. There are really some people who are born thief.

I am petty cash in-charge before. i am a very cautious person with regards to everything specially to money. at that time i have to post a lots of entries hence i have to beat a deadline. i was kinda focus on one thing, posting all the entries. co-workers are very irritating at the time, they always ask for me with out even understanding that i was so busy. i was careful in giving money and change, with that i was confident, so i did not do a cash count that day, and continue my posting. When i did the cash count the next morning i was short 500 pesos, and worst i have to pay it immediately since the accountants from our head office was there to do audits. that was my first time and i promised it will never happen again.

i act as a cashier in my own business, i don't know if i lost some money on my pocket. LOL. sometimes i am very busy also attending our customers and i am pron not to think how the cash go on. i don't have computerized machine to account all cash entered to my drawer but as far i am concerned i am very careful specially in giving change to the customers.

neildc hi I have never worked as a cashier but once I got some money in my favorite grocery store and asked the clerk to break a ten into ones and a twenty into two tens, well she said watch these new bills as they tend to stick together. well I took a cab home as I had too many groceries to go on the bus. The fare was six dollars so Itook out a five and what I thought was a one, and paid the cabbie and he never batted an eye. the next morning I checked my change as I was going out later and I was missing ten dollars,then i realized a ten had stuckto the one dollar bill so i had paid not six dollars but sixteen, I called the cab company but she refused to do anything as she said I should have called that morning and i tried to tell her i did not miss the ten until just a few minutes ago but she adamnat. so I was out ten dollars. sevral weeks later Iused the same cab co and when I went to pay the cabbie he said no take care mama then I realized he was the same driver so his conscience must have bothered him.

[i]Well my very dear best. I guess you'll have to be careful next time. Sorry to say this but do try to concentrate on your work next time. Don't do 2 things at a time so this won't happen again. It happened to me last school year, I was the one who is handling the school canteen's earning and when I checked my collections coz I have to turn it over, It doesn't tally with my records. Well You must be careful. I seldom lose money. But once I lost about 0.1 dollar.

I worked as a cashier, once, and we were two people to a register. I ended up getting assigned to a register with one person who had sticky fingers. The first week, it was a dollar, the next $3-4, the next $5-10, and so on. They made it look like I, the new girl, was doing the stealing. It was very frustrating! I think everyone who's a cashier ends up with short days or days where you've 'made' too much. I never did figure out where the difference went -- maybe off onto the floor, maybe a bad calculation, I don't know. I'm glad you weren't short too much.

Hi Neil, Many years ago, I used to sell icecream in a cinema and keep over charging so I was never short but over. He he he. Tamara

hehhee... i've lost a lot of money already xD i've been stoled he drop below something and i cant take and some plenty of things and i cant keep smiling after that... if you have some idea about how much i lost u cant keep smiling even i dont know how much exactly

thyats a bad feelign i accept. i have had experiences even during my school and college days. sometimes when i had to collect on behalf of everyone and then do some purchase i might end up with some money being lost from my pocket. its hard to digest that. but they have made me more stronger and alert to face life better today.
