Do you always tell the truth here or do you sometimes make up stories just to start a discussion. This topic is because I was reading discussions started by one mylotter where in one discussion he says he has a girl friend and they are having some problems and he has asked for tips to save the friendship and another disucssion is about his marriage a couple of months back. And both these discussions are started on the same day. So one of the discussions is a lie - unless ofcourse he is already planning a second marriage. What do you have to say about this?

Here I am my friends, been very busy getting stuffs done for myself. To answer this question, my stories are not made up at all. I tell them the things that has actually happened. It is better to tell the truth when you can. So that is what I try to adhere to.

I always reply honest and truthful responses here. I don't see any reason for doing otherwise as you've mentioned. I simply don't respond to the discussion if it is not my type or which I would not be able to answer rather than just replying to it just for the sake of doing it.

I dont think we should make up stories or lie just for making some money. Its good that you are honest here and dont comment when you want to hide something. So the next time I dont get a response from you for my discussion I will know the reason. hahahaha
Happy posting

well dear discussions are normally true atleast the base would be true..it may not be an immediate friend but something you come to know through a group of people..sometimes a general thought...so you have to narrate it ..yes what you say is a total case of lies if he puts those two discussions on the same day one his girlfriend and other his marriage then he is caught..but let us overlook it..have a nice day..

Well in this case this guy is asking for advice on how to solve his problems with his girlfriend and prevent a break up and in the other some talk about a new marriage - so I was confused about what advise to give. If one was for someone else he could have mentioned so. We would still put in our responses.

I don't see a point in lying on here or anywhere for that matter. If you have nothing interesting to start a discussion about then just don't start one. I'm very open with my life and I know it seems weird for my age, but I've been through a lot and have friends that have been through a lot and if I can help someone out by my experiences then why lie about it? I don't take offence to any question as questions are people's curiosity. Without curiosity, we wouldn't expand our mind and learn anything. I would hope people would be honest with me when I have a question.

I think some people may, but as a general rule I don't. Although I have responded to at least one that I believe was made up. but it was a funny not something like what you mentioned.
I have not seen the discussion you mentioned. But it sounds like if it is a truthful discussion he maybe cheating on his wife and forgot to mention that part or something like that. Or does not value his marriage,

I try to be truthful, though there are times when I cannot resist having a bit of fun and writing things as if I were serious but really couldn't be too bothered by. But I usually save this for the stuff in life that won't kill anyone.

I have always told the truth in mylot because I know that a lie will come back and hit me hard on the face. If we lied, people will find out about it one way or another and they will not trust us as much as they did in the past.

Well, I make it a point to tell the truth. For me it's like a matter of trust. In order to make people trust you, you have to tell the truth and be sincere in everything you say or do. You have to make them feel that you trust them so that they'll trust you too. If I happen to encounter someone who's lying, then I definitely won't trust that person here. And I probably won't respond to such discussions. Trust and truth are important, whether in real life, on the internet, in MyLot, or any other place.

Thanks selece for your response. These are exactly my thoughts too. I too would like to trust everyone here on mylot and similarly would like everyone to trust me. And people would only trust me if I stick around to the truth and not keep changing my statements from time to time. Thanks once agian.

Well... I only replied on the discussion that is interesting to me. I don't make lies because for me, mylot isn't only a place to get money. yeah, it is true that I am motivated more to give an answer and browse the topic I like because I want the money, who doesn't? But that's not a reason why I should make up stories to get lots of posts. I don't need to do it, there are bunch of interesting topics in my field that I can reply and I might one day find an interesting topic, the original one, to start a good discussion too.
So how honest am I? You can decide... :)

I have ran into one person who made two different topics that contradicted them selves but I guess that person was dry on ideas. I haven't been with mylot for a very long time but so far I have been able to answer everything by telling the truth. There are after all so many different subjects, how can you not be honest?

I definatly tell the truth when I am posting. I can't believe someone would lie, it's actually pretty funny that you noticed it! I wouldn't have remebering if I saw it. That's why I don't lie - you look foolish when you get caught.
Have a wonderful day everyone!

I know someone like that on mylot...and most of his discussions are copied from yahoo answers. None of them are his own. The funny part was when this person (I'm assuming he is a male over the age of 60...going by his profile) started a discussion saying he was a girl of 16....and then a woman of 30 or so.
My discussions are usually based on what I see around me or what I read about that makes me think.

Your discussion here explains part of the reason that I would always be honest here. The main reason would be because I am an honest person and make it a point to always tell the truth in my life.

I would like to think that everyone is honest on here, but I am sure that it's not the case. I guess there are some people who will say something that's not the truth, and then forget what they said. I don't know why they do it, whether it's for privacy or just because they feel like it. I would think that it's better to be honest though.

Wow, that person shouldn't be doing that, if that's what they are doing. I mean I think that part of the fun of this website is that the website has real people on here that post about real life, not something that they read.

some people will lie when the truth would do better. they have got to know they are going to get caught sooner or later. if u tell one lie then u have got to tella dozen more. i'd soon forget what i'd told & what i hadn't. have a good day.

I do not want to disclose his name here. Even if one of the topics was for someone else he should have mentioned so. Not say in one that he wants to get married and in the other that he is married a couple of months back. I always tell the truth and if i dont want to reveal something I will never start a discussion on that topic. Or not post a reponse to someone elses discussion if I do not want to tell the truth.

I myself don't lie on Mylot and I don't ever plan to, but I can definitely see the point of it. Lying I suppose is a good way to find things to talk about and ultimately gain more earnings. However, if I were too lie I wouldn't do it in such an obvious and stupid way like the person you just mentioned. But yeah, if you lie too much people will look through your posts and find inconsistency and people will eventually start to ignore you.

Gahhh I hate typos. It's meant to say "if I were TO lie". I hate how you can't edit posts here, but oh well. I thought that typo made the meaning of that part a bit ambiguous so I felt I had to correct it.
