Hi ramya! In fruits like orange, banana and chico i peel off the outer skin and eat. Apple and mango are fruits you need not peel off, before eating.

I have never heard of the fruit you talk about called a chico, at least not by that name, can you tell about it, or post a picture. It is a good idea to wash all of the fruits we eat, not just because of pesticides but because of bacteria that it may have come in contact with.

The only time I peel the skin off a fruit is if it is an orange or a banana. I think that for apples the skin is the best part, especially if it is crisp and cold and crunchy!!

Hi Ramya
I will not peel the fruits having thin skin like apple. But when I have mangos I will take of the outermost layer of the skin with a fine knife.

I don't peel apples before i eat them, but I do peel oranges. As to whether someone peels a piece of fruit or not, actually depends on the fruit. Some are optional depending on preference, others have to be peeled because the peels are not edible. Bananas are a good example of fruit that must be peeled.

some fruits i can't help but to peel .. but i too think that nutrients are present in the outer part ... so for the fruits like apple i too eat raw without peeling thenm so that i get a few nutrients into my body.

Hello,
Even I do not peel off the Outer Skin normally . I do sometimes do it when I am not too well and finding it hard to eat the skin .

Because of a dental problem, my husband frequently cannot eat the apple rind. After he peals the apple, he will bring the rind to me, and I will happily eat it.

well as for me if the skin is edible i will eating because i love fruits. i strongly prefer to eat my fruit rather than make juice out of it. i tend to like it better when im eating the actual fruit.

Actually I really don't eat the skin of fruits unless I really have to. When I was younger I didn't like the feeling of eating apple skin, I always felt like it was getting stuck in my throat somewhere. Anyway, do you eat the skin of chico fruits? What's that like?

If the peels are edible, I leave them on, like apples and pears. Things like oranges and bananas need to be peeled to be enjoyed.

As for apples and chico and most fruits with edible peelings, I don't really peel it anymore. The reason is not mainly because I want to retain the nutrients. My reason is because I am so lazy to peel it! Some people peel their grapes, and I really can't wait that long just to eat a small fruit.

I ALWAYS eat the peels of the apple. They are VERY good for you and have the most nutrients that an apple has. I always peel my oranges though, can you even eat the peel? Also with watermelons, I never eat the peel or the white/light green colored rind.
