I never let my dog starve..I give him a proper dog food, vitamins and give him exercise 2-3 times a week walking.. I bring him to a veterinarian once a month...
But why does he eat poops of our cat? Is bad or dangerous if he eats feces?

There's nothing wrong in what you did. Keep that up - the food, vitamins, exercise, walking to the vet. He lacks training. When he catch him in the act eating cat poop, show him that you don't like what he is doing. If you have children, you might say that it is similar to disciplining a child. Dogs are smart, all it takes is good training. If it were my dog, it tap his nose or somewhere in his body enough that he notices it and sending signals to his brain telling him that I don't want him eating that cat poop. I say tap and not spank. Keep doing that everytime he eats cat poop. When he thinks of eating cat poop again and then at second thought think of how unpleasant the body tap he gets after eating cat poop, eventually he will learn to leave that vice behind.

maybe your dog thinks it's still food coz it smells like their food... haha... and maybe, he doesnt want u to worry about cleaning your cat's poopie so he's cleaning it all by himself. my shih tzu used to eat his own poopie when she was younger, and my husky, drinks our other dog's weewee...

Our dog use to do that when he was younger..But we did tain him not to do it anymore...I would ask you Vet about it also as they can tell you about a powder to put in the cats food that will help stop your dog from wanting to eat it...I seen it on our Local News, but I don't remember the name of the stuff you need. But you can also train them to stop like we did.. Don't spank him, but let him know it is bad....

My brothers dog does it too. I was told that it was because cats do not totally digest their food, so to a dog it smells like food still. I am not too sure no how truthful that is, but I have noticed that dogs do not eat other dogs poop. Only cat poop.

It's a 'dog thing'. They don't seem to care do they? My mother had a dog that ate poop whenever I walked him across our local fields ... they are definitely not fussy about hygiene are they.
Just make sure your dog doesn't lick your face straight after!!!

Dogs generally eat poop when they have a deficiency in their diet. I don't know what they are missing that makes them want to eat it but they're trying to get something from it that they didn't get when they ate their food. I'm sure your vet knows more than I do.

Hi Slepart,
I have the same problem...we hava an 85 pound pit bull and 4 cats :-)
When Karma, the dog, is in my house I must watch very carefully cause she will go and get in the litter and eat whatever, ugh!!
Don't know why she does this, as you can tell by her weight, she is not starving...although the doc has her on a diet cause she should weigh only 65 pounds not 85:-(
Have you ever asked the vet about this? Our dog also goes to the vet and gets a full bath and beauty treatment every two weeks but we always forget to ask cause we do try to watch her carefully.
Good luck with this and if you get an answer please post it.
