Can it? Alot of people disagree and think that money cant buy you happiness. But money makes you feel completely secure. If you dont go money/power hungry, money can be a very good thing. You are happy because you are secure, and you have money to travel, etc and everything for the future for you and your family. I think, in certain scenarios, that money can buy happiness. What do you think?

Good topic for discussion. I have to say i disagree with you.If a millionare has
no family, has no friends, but he does have big house and luxurious car,can you
say he acquired happiness? Definetely,no.On the contary,a man has great physical
body, has a warm home and beautiful wife, lovely children,he also has two diligent
hands which can help him create wealth little by little, even though now he is
poverty-sticken.Can you say he is not happy?
Happiness lies not in how much wealth do you possess,or how much power you are in
control,it consists in sharing what you already have, and making other people feel
you are in need.

you're right you do have a point. I know money cant buy you love from a spouse or a family, and even if your rich you can be unhappy and alone. But when I wrote this discussion, I was thinking about how having money would give my family the oppurtunity to do alot more things, such as pay for my schooling, renovate our house, take a trip, etc, which would make us very happy, which is a result of having that money. But I do agree with you on most of the points you made,

I think money facilitates the process of being happy ...i think the greatest benefit of money is that it increase your options ..the more money you have, the more choices you have in just about every aspect of life.
having enough money for your needs gives you freedom to pursue your dreams that might be fulfilling but not lucrative ...for eg ...say if you want to be an MBA and you feel that this your calling ..this is what u need to be...but you cannot pursue the degree because of financial conditions, supporting your family..but if you have funds you can follow your dreams and feel content about it ...Devoting more time to your work will make you a better and will probably increase the chance to gain some recognition for your work ....but if you have to come home after slogging for a mere amount of money ...full day, drive the kids for practice, get dinner , do housework and get everybody to bed ..then you;re not going to be up for much else at the end of the day ..but if you have money to spare on hiring a help for household chores and free up some time then wouldn't u be happy for spending sum time with you beloved family members ..I know i did be....

I think money helps out a great deal , and can give you a peace of mind . You wont have to worry about your kids , and their future , because you will be able to help them out more . Not having money can lead to stress , but sometimes people abuse money too , and the line is money is the root of all evil . Money can be good and bad .

Money can not buy happiness, because each individual is responsible for their own happiness. Money can make your life comfortable and worry free, that in itself can give a person the peace of mind they need in order to create happiness for themselves. Lack of money can create all types of emotional distress, I fall in the latter

i would think yes...but then again, if u have heard the song "minwe" by savage garden, you would think no
i would like to quote a line from that song which goes,
"i wonder if you know the pain
To want the one thing that you haven't got."
well, money can't buy you some things, including, of course, love

"Money cant bring happiness to lives" is the true fact i cannot disagree it .this is for those who keeps money as idol and who lives only for earning money .But im not a person who says "i can live without money ",it is needed to over come our basic needs thats all.I hope both sentence make sense .What i mean is everything should be under a limit if it overgoes then you cant make happines out of it

Yes and no.
I mean, this is a very complicated question which is really hard to answer and people from different classes will probably think differently.
I believe that people can be happy with or without money. Of course money can make your life better and promise you a better future but I'm not sure that it is the cause for a happy person or a unhappy person.
Money can buy you many things that will make your life more simple, quiet but money can also make you more nervous, busy and stressed so I don't think that if you have money you necessary have happyness. There are many wealthy people who are not happy at all and even thought they have a lot of money, they work all time, have no family and no love. In contrast with, you can find many people who don't have much money but they have a loving family, caring wifes and husbands etc.. and they are happy people even though they don't have a lot of money.
On the other hand, many people in the world who are poor and can't buy enough food will probably need money for their existence and if they have more money they could buy more food and be happier.
Good day everybody.

Material happiness, yes, that money can buy. If you think about it, it can't buy emptiness. You can use money to buy things that could make you busy or do things that could make your time pass by, but it can never ever fill in or at least make you feel complete emotionally, spiritually, and mentally.

Happiness for me, is an overall of satisfaction with ones situation and that life is good. Unhappiness for me is defined as sense of discontent with ones life and a feeling that there is a need for change.
Money doesn't buy happiness, it's buys us CHOICES
But being happy FIRST is what makes the choices even sweeter. Being happy first regardless of the money we make.
But making money at home... certainly helps with the happiness part because it gives us the sense of accomplishment, too.
best wishes.

This depends greatly on your definition of happiness. If happiness means travelling, shopping, investing, then money will buy you that kind of happiness. It doesn't mean though that you will feel secured when you've got plenty of moolah. I have many well-to-do friends who are not at all happy. They constantly fear losing their money.A bachelor friend is paranoid that women might love only his money instead of himself. Some think that their families are alright because they are well-provided for. When you get a closer look, kids belonging to these families are far more insecure because of the lack of love. Some filthy rich people think that money begets love but this isn't the case. You can have everything yet hunger for true friends and quality time with your loved ones.

I think at some point we can buy happiness for money. For example, traveling around the world is one of my dreams, and let's agree that we should save a substantial amount of money for that. yet, having too much money in fact leaves out lots of things to value. When i go back to things that i grew up with, they make such a happy person, and i know that now one would be able to buy me memories those things bring. So, i think as a person is becoming richer and richer, he/she loses a sense of true happiness, and is working more on the status, but not on the inner feelings. I would right again my favorite quote (i have posted it in the other discussion) by Pablo Picasso: "i want to live like a poor person with lots of money".

It can buy you happiness for a short period of time. When I have extra money and I go buy something I've wanted for a long time... I'm pretty content for about a day. I think unless you are a person who has no interest in having a family, it won't buy you happiness.

For me, we have different meaning of happiness there are people who is happiness depends on the money they have because they can but the things they can make them happy. Or they can do what they want to do, places where they want to visit and friends who they want to meet because they have money.
But for me I'm just a simple person who can be satisfied in what money I have as of now. The most important thing to make me happy is having a person who will give me true and lasting love. And that is the thing I know I can't buy evethough I have a lots of lots of money.

Those people who disagree that money can buy happiness are just running away from the reality. Money is so powerfull that it can buy and human created happiness. Definately it can not buy many things which god has created but at the same time poverty also cannot buy those things. It is becasue of our society and studies where we are taught that money is the root of all evils. But in real life every thing is opposite to that learning and in real life monet is the root of all happiness.

Well first it depends on what the individual considers as happiness and depending on what that answer is it could definitely buy happiness. For some people happiness is found in material things, for this it definitely takes money. For others happiness is found in the things that money can't buy, normally from an emotional point is where they would find the most happiness.
For me, I think happiness is derived from a mix of the two. From a emotional standpoint Happiness for me is quality time with my family and friends. Happiness is having healthy loving relationships. Happiness is being healthy.
But I also like things and the ability to buy and have whatever I want. I want to live in a certain neighborhood, I want to drive a particular type of car. I want to be able to provide anything that my son wants. I want to be able to pay for the best schools for my son. I want to be debt free. I want to not have to worry about the cost of living. And for these things money has faciltated my happiness.

It depends. If i want money badly and i realy lack money to do something urgently, money does bring me happiness. In a way, we are aways lack someting in our daily life and we can purchease it if we have money. But there is no limite to people's needs, so even money can't be sure to make one happy.

some times money can buy your happiness some times not.. eg- of you like to go for a trip to some where or if you need to buy something, without money you cant do that, for that you need money.. but some things like love and care cant buy .. if you buy them, they wont long last..
