well it seems that brilliant people are those who plan their future. having to invest and risk on something like going to a business or simply by just being original are those people who actually succeed. the average people are those who do their work and just go on with everyday life. they plan or dream of something they want or like to do but do not plan on how to really achieve it. it's like a average employee who wants to buy a car but earns enough. so what he does is save until he could afford one. but the brilliant one are those normal employee who actually aspire for a higher position and higher income to buy a car - brilliant. big difference right. now the small people are those who can't buy a car and does nothing but to talk about that person because they envy him. Moral of my story - DON'T BUY A CAR!!!! hahahaha. people might start spreading gossips about you.lol have a good day.:)

personally, i believe on that saying. the line "brilliant people talks about ideas" means that people with high intellect generally talks about ideas. they love to talk new ideas that will enrich their well being. they never stop learning and so new ideas are their cup of tea. ideas that they could use to make themselves more useful. "average people talks about things", this is where most common and ordinary people belongs. they talk about merely anything under the sun. the things that take place in their daily lives, the books they read, the movie they watch and even the new menu they discover. and they have fun of doing it. mostly, they spend their time talking about it. "small people talks about people" is where the category of gossipers belongs. they talk about other people's lives, finding their mistakes and criticize them. people like this merely grow, because instead of giving focus on how they could become responsible citizens, they are looking at other people's lives.

It may sound nice and true but in reality I think its different, Brilliant people also talk about small things and other people. Everyone has ideas and talks about them.

Hi, I dont agree the first two because people may not be at the same mood when they talk. they might be choosing different topic, it could be sometimes... brilliant talks about other people, average talks about idea, while small people talks about things hahaha... but theres one thing very much sure... people loves to gossip and it exist from brillian to average down to small people.

Hello my friend... Here's my interpretation: Brilliant people talk about idea - people are brilliant in a way that they process their thoughts and ideas first. These ideas serve a greater purpose such as an important decision in their lives or a certain thing they need to say and do. Ideas are deeper than mere observation from things or what other people say. Average people talk about things - "things" actually refer to what they see or notice within their environment or what they have or see from other people. They base their thoughts from this and talk regarding these observations. Small people talk about other people - they are considered to be "small" since talking about other people probably means, gossip or criticizing other people. It can also mean that they base their way of thinking on what other people say or what other people think of them. Hope it made sense somehow.

I totally agree with this phrase. You can add one or two lines to it -extra ordinary or excellent people talk about implementing the ideas (given by brilliant people) and ideal people talk about writing about these ideas on mylot.

I think it makes a lot of sense. Let me out it another way. Brilliant people create. Average people appreciate that which has already been created. Small people can' appreciae anyhing tha didn't do themselves, and are too small to think for themselves, so they put down the creaters, and that which has already been creaed.

Hi dhangski, I have read this also when I was in College and I agree about it...In my observation to people around me, this is really happening!! I do know with others, that is why I don't like to hangout a lot with people whose business is to talk about other people and criticize them without even evaluating their own lives!

lol this is one really interesting phrase. i agree with it especially the last part. it really makes me wonder why would anyone want to talk about other people. it just seem so wrong to be talking behind anyone's back. gossiping is the less productive of human activities and can only bring about worsening relationships. i guess i'm the average people in this phrase. i am not good at coming up with ideas. cheers ;p

Hi friend, I think average people and brilliant people can makes solutions to the things if they really keep interest on it.But small people talks about other people.Its true.I agree with this only and not the above two.Depending upon the situation sometimes the small people will do wonders.Sometimes brilliant people can't.It all depends upon the situation how they react.In most of the cases it might be correct or it might not be correct. This is my personal opinion but i don't know whether i am correct or no. Have a nice day.

I tend to remain in the average. talking about small things and even big things. dreams are for the average people like me, like us. brilliant people, although usually came out with new ideas, tend to be unhappy most of the time. "Happiness in intelligent people is the rarest thing I know." (Ernest Hemingway) Small people talks about people, can be manifested by the gossips, usually those in the urban and not so urban places.

But they all apply to me! I always find myself chatting whether it is about people, things, or ideas. :) Hehe. SO maybe I'm brilliant sometimes, average other times, and small a lot of times? I don't know. I guess you really can't generalize and limit a person to be just either one of the three categories. We are capable of transcending our limits and developing our potentialities to become better than who we already are. We have unlimited masks in life so we play different roles depending on the situation. That is the wonder of being human.

YES. I think this phrase was born as a response for situation of gossip.. it is very similar to the phrase of albert einstein who said : "Great spirits always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds." I think both of these phrases are very precise. good day.

it took me quite a while to respond to your discussion dangski. binasa ko muna lahat ng responses, i totally agree with them. halos wala na akong ma-comment or response about it. but here it goes: Brilliant people are in power (government/politics/business)- no doubt about it.... Average people are the workers/taxpayers - no doubt about it either..... then sino ang small people? aren't those people who are in the business (how to compete with others), senate, congress and the palace (how to defeat other parties and corruption) talk about people too? Don't we criticize them as well? LOL regards....
