I love mysteries especially series. I love getting involved with a character and following them through the series. Some of my favorites are Robert Paker (Spenser, Stone and Randall series), Grafton, Diane Mott Davidson. I tend to read about women detectives either amateur or professional but I am always on the lookout for a good mysterie.

I would love to read books of the satirical background. And fantasy books like Harry Potter really gets me. I haven't read any romantic books, and sci-fi books makes me sleepy. So I really prefer something with black humor or political humor. It really fires me up in a weird way.

I usually read Sci Fi and fantasy. They tend to make my imagination better because they are complex and give me new ideas. Other than that I usually read books related to comedies and Technical magazines.
best of luck for your writing, but do not base your writing on what people would read. Make it something that would make anyone would read no matter what they prefer.

What kind of book I like depends to some extent on how I am feeling or my mood at the time and also how well written the book is. For light reading, I often like to read a good mystery. For a while I was into chick lit, but I kind of burned out on it when so many authors jumped on the band wagon and seemed to be cranking out just more variations on the theme. They became too formulaic and lacked character development of any kind. I also enjoy general novels, especially if they are well written so I can really get into them. Sometimes I am in the mood for a romance. Yes, sometimes I even read historical romances especially if one captures my attention in the library. So I guess my taste in literature might be described as eclectic.

I enjoy lightweight mysteries that combine both serious topic matter and a bit of humor. Cat genre mysteries tend to do that for me (Midnight Louie, Joe Grey) as well as the lady sleuth series by J.A.Jance about a young widowed mother in Cochise County, AZ, who becomes an unlikely sheriff after her husband is murdered. The fact that I had lived in Cochise County for two years helped because the settings in every story are real to the area.
I also like reading non-fiction like biographies and books on current politics.
However, I am currently reading one that's a bit hard for me to get into, even though I want to know more of the subject matter. It's about Rosslyn Chapel in Scotland and its link to six other medieval chapels in Europe and how they are all interlinked with the Celts, Druidism, Catholicism, the Knights Templar and the Holy Grail. It's an interesting subject, but the author presents it in a more academic fashion than I'm used to reading. Some people get brain freeze from Icies - I get mine from this!! LOL
