I'm new to this whole mylot thing so I don't fully understand the concept yet, but I am a writer, it's what I do for a living and I couldn't imagine doing anything else.
I only have one thing to ask... How many of you are finding yourself writing blogs, discussions or questions just to meet some kind of fantical need to be posted up here? What I mean is, how many of you are writing just to write? The reason I ask is because, after reading other posts, I noticed a disturbing trend, I was uninterested, as were many other readers. The questions were rushed and not very thought out. Now I do not mean to say that everyone's was like that, there are some that are wonderful, but most left me wanting more. Again, please remember that I'm new here, if this question is asked on a daily basis I apologize. Otherwise I would appreciate some feedback.
Also, how much do we earn?

Unfortunatly there's a pretty big bunch of people on mylot just to make money, there is no running from that as on a lot of websites that earn you for writing content or for providing quality discussions and answers there will be people trying to cheat the system with short replies and nonsence topics.
There are a lot of good people on here too though that love to write.
I would tell lies if I said I don't like it that this site earns me money, but I like to write anyway so it's a nice addition. Coming here just for the money doesn't work because it will not be worth your time. You can earn the same amount in less time in a normal job, this should be a hobby.
We earn anywhere between 1 and 5 cents for a post or responses and posting pictures with your responses will earn you extra.

Well, I can't speak for everybody, but as for myself, I write because it's my passion and it makes me get through all the madness in my life. I'm not really particular about getting posted here, since popularity in mylot will remain here and will never follow me in my workplace or in my neighborhood, so it doesn't really matter that much. I love writing and I love reading other's people's opinions as well even if it's against mine so I make sure I write a start a good discussion (as to my standards, so I'm sure that others won't find them good, hehehe).
By the way, earnings in mylot cannot be specifically quantified since the moderators never specify the payment for each post or reply or any activity that you do here. All I know is I'm earning cents everyday and I'm pretty satisfied about it since it isn't my one and only motivation here.
Welcome to mylot and happy posting!

There are two major reasons why i write here. Number 1 is for fun. I absolutely love reading through all the discussions and hopefully, when i feel as though i have something to add, joining in. Number 2, I have made some great friends here and adore reading through their thought provoking discussions. The money we earn here is hardly worth the time it takes to do it. Lol, the few cents you earn from responding to discussions, posting, and from uploading photographs will not pay for the electricity it costs to run thwe comp.
I write accademic text books but have very little ability as a writer as such. I find typing here is a great way to develop my own ideas as well as test them out with others, both with those who agree and those who may disagree. Most importantly, enjoy your time here on mylot, post for fun. Not everyone will have your writers ability and I feel we all need to be tollerant of each other. Not only is English not the first language of many people here on mylot, also we have a range of abilities, education and intelligence, all of us have a right to work here and make the site the rich mix of diversity we have all made it
keep on posting
blessed be

Welcome to MyLot talker!
The more you participate the more you earn in cents and friends too.
Here is like a big happy family and it's fun. It may take a while to appreciate just how many different interests there are but if you come regularly you will soon find your slot.
Invite people to be your friends and accept their requests too and then you will already have somewhere to start by responding to their discussions.
Have fun and don't try to uderstand what's going on - just join in
take a look at the Guidelines for the do's and don'ts and then that's it - off you go!
Looking forward to 'seeing' you!
Happy MyLotting!

im a straight-to-the-point person most of the time so i only answer the questions being asked. initially, i would say that i write to earn. i find mylot addicting especially if i see that im nearing payout. for me, being here in mylot is one way to share my ideas. i look for interesting topics and join them. i don't have the passion to make it as a professional writer but i love to share my insights in the discussions. it feels good to share.

I'm sure almost all the discussions are started on a whim. I sometimes don't think mine out entirely either. It's sometimes difficult to find discussions to respond to since I like to post at least 3 or 4 lines and some of them dont merit that kind of response. In general you will earn approximately 2 cents per response.

Hey and welcome. Don't worry you'll get used to it within a couple of days. When I first started I needed some time to find my own flow, you know? You just have to find a pace that is comfortable for you. You'll get the hang of it. I am also a writer. I have also seen this trend on here. However, everyone is on here for a different purpose. I do come on here to write just to get my feelings out. And sometimes I see discussions that have helped me learn a little more about myself. And the earning process isn't that tricky. Your best bet would be to keep typing until you don't feel like it anymore for today. Counting coins will only make the process seem longer.

I do not write just to write as I do not think I am a particularly good writer. I have never been any good at writing stories or anything like that, but I am perfectly able to get my message across. So I am writing to get a message across and make some money rather than writing for the pleasure I get from writing as I find my writing not very special really.

hello, talker. Welcome to MYLOT.
I come here for improving English and getting to know the different thinking ways. In fact, I haven't been on MYLOT for two months because of the busy study. But in this vacation, I began to get on MYLOT again, because it really works in improving my English. One friend here once told me, "the best way to learn a language is to immerse yourself into the language." It is so true. Reading books is surely a good way to learn a language, but you see, posting here is a way of communication which is much more active.
I care little about the earning. The only reason I pay my attention is that it can show how I did in my posts, i.e., the quality of them.
As you are a writer, maybe it is a place for you to get writing materials, I suppose.

Hi Talker. Welcome to myLot. I hope you like it here and enjoy the time you spend. I'm not a writer by profession. I'm an everyday "working stiff" who's retired. I don't get out much any more and I enjoy the time I spend here with friends on myLot. It's a place I can rant and get pet peeves off my chest and know I'm not the only one that feels that way about a certain subject. It's a place I can go to ask a question about something I don't understand. It a place I can go to tell good news and know that someone will rejoice with me, or sad news and know someone will comfort me. It's a place that feels like a neighborhood gathering. . .without all the noise and hubbub that usually drains me.
Yes I do make a little money here, and that is why I initially joined, but it's not the reason I stay. The reason I stay is because it's a nice friendly atmosphere.
I think several others have explained how we get paid so I won't go into that. If you have some active referrals you will earn some from everything they post too.

Not everyone here is a writer by profession. Many are here for the fun or the money. They are just as welcome and valuable as those who are writers. When I see discussions I'm not particularly interested in, I simply pass them by and move on to something I want to reply to. Others may be plenty interested in the things I don't care for. That's what makes this place special....there is a niche for everyone. Those who are writers aren't any better than those who aren't. I would imagine that those who are having fun here and accepting others as they are, are the highest earners of all.

I am the kind of person you are talking about-I have the passion to write, and I thought I was fairly talented as a writer-but I have not been exposed to the world of blogging and all the kind of stuff that you do as writer for a living-I now find myself doing what you describe as "writing to write" But trust me-I certainly will check your profile to see exactly what you do to earn by writing-Welcome to mylot-it a place where people like you get noticed and are available to enrich others with all manners of sklls, including writing skills! Keep talking to us talker96!

Hi talker96 and welcome to mylot. It seems that a huge percentage of the people here are here for the money. I haven't quite figured out that part because it would seem way to much work for the money, but thats what its about for many. For those users it seems that often their content is very shallow, without much substance and often one-liners.
There are some people like you that actually want to write and talk about things of substance, difference and matter. You quickly figure out who those are and can find some interesting topics and discussions. So those people find a great joy in participating here, making friends, and writing about or responding to topics of interest.
You earn money by posting discussions, responding to discussions, rating discussions and being rated by other mylotters. I look forward to your input in the future. And you will probally make some extra change as a result of!

come from down to up.
i do not know exactly how much you earn but i'm posting 20 daily with something around 5 lines each and earning 50 cents daily ^^
about what did you say. this happens because a lot or people want just the myLot money so they start nonsense discussion just to earn money. sometimes they not even answer what the others are talking =/
anyway, if you are a writer i hope i can answer much discussion of your as i think. =p
thanks, Scorpionok.

Truthfully, most of us, like myself, write on myLot just for the money here. It's around $0.03 for a post like yours here, which is a good price. I never find myself posting blogs here at all, and as said before, I'm mostly just posting to earn money here. From what I've seen, though, myLot users aren't the perfect typers, but they are at least more effort giving than most other users on any other forum out there. However, that's probably because you gain more posts if your posts are longer, but it's much better than what I've seen on other forums out there.
