do you alphabetize your movie collection?

Hi welikemoney, We are not a naturally organized family, but we are huge music and movie folks, so we do the same thing as you. We are fortunate that one room in our home has wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling built-in bookcases. We might be disorganized about most things, but thank goodness we have taken the time to put books, DVDs and CDs in alphabetical order. We also have an ever-growing spread sheet that lists what we own. Life at our house is pretty chaotic sometimes, but at least we can enjoy our media collection without stress, lol, (no small blessing in today's crazy world). smiles, ink

I do. It's because I can keep track of them. When I first become a die hard movie buff my collection was so out of order, lol. When I wanted to see something in particular I had to look all over the place to find it. Now it's a simple reach because of the alphabetical order.

Sorry for coming in so late. Yes earlier I used to index my movie collection alphabetically but now I can't do that as I don't have time because of my regular job.

No I am not that organized I did go through the movies once and put the movies in categories like all the Clint Eastwoods together all the Jim Carrey together and if there was more than 1 part to the movies put them together but it didn't stay theat way very long.

I dont have that many movies that I would need to alphabetize them but I would like maybe to alphabetize my cds. I have alot more of them and it would make sense to do so. I am always looking for certain cds and if they were alphabetized they would be alot easier to find. I'm sure they would.

that is cool, you can easily find the movies you want to watch when you fix it that way. our dvd collection is fixed according to the good, better, best. or may i say i put the least watch at the top shelf. har har har. mostly of the dvd movies we have are from UK (i have a brother who gives me dvd) and from japan and US (relatives of my wife). so sometimes even the movie is not the type of movie we would like to watch we just watch it once and we put it at the least watched movie if we dont like it that much.

Our DVDs are kind of spread through the house so those aren't alphabetized but the ones we have on the computer are.

Yes, it just makes it that much easier to find.

Yeah, I don't really have that many movies, but I just like to organize them as well. I need order in things like that, makes me feel good, don't really know how to explain it :P
