What Prevents you from Posting?

Well, simple enough with the title for discussion, what prevents you from posting here in this site? I mean, the only time that prevent me from posting would be an unstable internet connections which does make my, sometimes enthusiastic, post go to waste when the page doesn't load up right after click that 'post response' command after typing a lot. Gets me irritated whenever it happens and I forgot to set aside a copy due to being easger on posting.. Then I wondered if there would be other reasons that other members here in this site have that prevents them from posting. I even thought that perhaps the discussion which they want to participate in might be too awkward when some of their friends in their friend's list finds out that they were actually participating on such a discussion. I mean, even in the net, we still build our reputation among those who we interact with. Though anyone can really be anyone in the net, some still build their reputation which grants them that personality or that mental image among others who are also members of that particular site. So even if they are interested in a particular topic, their inhibitions prevents them from participating and not taking chances in geting 'caught' How about you guys? Do you encounter instances that prevents you from posting? What would they be and how does it annoy, if not amuse you? Thanks for sharing!

I always come to Mylot every day of the week and post replies to discussions. The only time that I do not come to Mylot, is if the electric goes out or something like that. I do not post alot of discussions but I respond to alot of them that my friends have made. I enjoy that the most here.

You're welcome. That is the same with me. I like to respond to my friends discussions. I have a ton of them to go through right now. I like to comment back and forth with them also. It keeps me very busy and it is fun and rewarding also.

Hmmm, thanks for the power shortage reason that prevents us from posting here in this site.. I also find it more convenient to post my own responses on other member's discussions and follow through with responses, replies and comments..

Well besides what you've mentioned above, my bad mood would definitely make me not want to post. Sometimes my mood prevents me from giving a good response. So I just wait that I'll be back in the proper mood for me to think.

Indeed, it also depends on the mood of the person on how he or she would do in whatever it is that he or she would be doing.. Thanks for adding something different on things that may prevent us from posting here in this site

hi ratyz! what is your internet service provider? maybe you should change into a different one! the things that prevents me from posting a discussion are mental block or the lack of a topic, lack of mood to compose anything (the idea is there but i don't have the mood to expand it), lack of enough time to think and compose easy and fun to read discussion, those things of sorts. i don't give a care on what others might think on the kind of discussions i start or under what kind of interest i start it. in fact, i want myLotters to read all my discussions because i want them to know more about me. whether they like me or not by my discussions, its up to them.

oh.. you still get connected even with a broadband?? i though PLDT MyDSL is a good service. i even thought of switching to it since we have a PLDT landline. good thing i didn't. ^__^ yeah. i'm not bounded with what interests me and what not. at least i try to be. there's always something that i can say about certain things. its good to be versatile because it helps in increasing my earnings.

Uhmmm, no, PLDT's myDSL isn't a service using signals over a wide range of frequencies in high-capacity telecommunications which would be what Broadband is. Its what I consider as a Direct Service Line.. We're not on broadband like that of SmartBro and I hear services from SmartBro are unstable before but, I don't hear much complaints from friends of mine who avail of such services anymore which is a good thing (^_^ ) I agree, not only widens your perspectives on a variety of subjects and topic but, here in this site, expands your capability to post more and therefore earn more as well (^_^ )

We currently have PLDT's myDSL and whenever we inquire for the other offers of PLDT that are available even at the malls, they would all inquire why'd we want to downgrade our current subscription? Got me thinking that if we experience certain disconnection problems with our current connection, what more with those downgraded offers? Of course, I'm only among those who are using it fully to my advantage at home and not really among those who are contributing on paying the bills so if ever my folks at home decide to change, I can't do anything about it.. So those inhibitions on posting are all dependent on your will and not necessarily due to how you find the discussion interesting or not? I see, so you are very versatile when it comes to the variety of interests that you participate in, that's good (^_^ )

Time is a big factor for me. I just don't have enough of it! A slow internet connection is another. Right now my connection is good but it isn't always. I lose patience when I have to wait forever for pages to load. Sometimes I come to mylot and I just don't feel like posting so I just read, or I leave. This especially happens when another round of drama hits the fan. I don't feel like dealing with internet drama so I stay away for awhile.

I'm recently having trouble with time as well since someone else would use the computer and I would let them since, I would also like the same favor whenever I ask to use something of their own or something that I also need to use. Net connection is really something uncertain but, as long as the bills are payed and the day is right, the connection is stable. Internet drama... as long as I could give a couple of words.. I guess I'd still post but, if its really one of those things that I have nothing to say, I can't post anything about it.. Thanks for posting, moneyandgc ^___^

Sometimes Mylot can be kind of iffy. Ever since they made the changes last week or the week before things have been slightly different. I've noticed how if I have minimized Mylot for a 'long' period of time it closes me out. I've gone back to post more and I had to sign in all over again. It's weird. And sometimes when I'm trying to post my response is erased because I was signed out.

I bet others have also encountered what you have described.. getting automatically logged out after not being active in the site for a short period of time.. I really like it back then when I would just type the site on the browser and there I was already signed up. Hmmm, you also encounter that suddenly post getting lost abruptly.. I think you also do the copy your post on a spare notepad before going any further?

Uhh, huhh..^_^ Two words: real life. Thats what prevents me from posting. You gotta admit our cyber lives are dictated by our real lives. We can only do so much if there are many hindrances in real life that keeps us from posting our hearts out. That includes internet connections as well as power outages. Since you gravitated more towards the nature of discussions, I do agree with you on some level. I mean of course I wouldnt want to participate in a discussion thats too awkward, too personal, or anything that I wouldnt want my real friends/loved ones to see. On the other hand, if the relationship that I have with my friends on a site has never gotten beyond 'appearances'(responding to each others discussions; thats all) then I wouldnt care less if other users would judge me. Good thing about myLot is that its a close community where users really try to help each other out. Sure there are those who are not so supportive but its all a part of being a society. hmm, on a simpler note, ref links, sensitive and awkward topics, topics that I have no idea about, topics that dont concern me (titles like "Only for insert place members"), topics that are most likely to be deleted, are some of the factors that prevent me from posting to a discussion.^_^

Perhaps when they ever go online, all they do is flag and flame other discussions in sites that they have joined. of course, they'd be doing that in their own realities as well.. I agree, I bet when you start a discussion with 'Only myLot Members' it would gain more responses which would really be ironic too..

Real life does really influence what we do in anything, goes along with how we do in the net.. though, there are people who are more active online than in reality.. I guess they have a stable internet access and power supply ain't an issue.. I really don't mind if I get caught participating with discussions that may be awkward for others. If I have something to say, I guess I could say it. I often would just go along with interests and those that other members have started.. Haven't encountered those of the latter, not being supportive.. I guess when its too much for them to handle, even sensitive issues get posted as discussions here.. "Only for" kinds of discussions are a bit weird.. it would've been best if they started it in an interest that would really just catch the attentions of those whom are intended to participate and not one in general like 'myLot', 'life' or any other interest that are too general.. maybe they can start a "only for.." kinds of interests wherein they could really get the replies that they want from a particular group of members that the one who initiated the post wants.

there are some users who arent really nice. I mean they'll flag your discussion just because they wont agree with you. Good thing they're not always online.tsk3 The 'Only for' discussions are usually posted under specific interests but of course you cant avoid seeing one even if you're not one of the 'Only in's.

Nice discussion!! Well i feel like posting only in discussion where i have some valid point to say... Otherwise if i dont have any valid point to say.. i dont post.... If the discussion is of my interest there are more chances that i will post.... if i dont have much idea about the discussion then i prevent myself from posting on that discussion... Sometimes finding a good discussion to post is a problem... untill then i will not post in any other discussion... he he

Yeah, sometimes I encounter instances wherein the most recent or new discussions really don't go along with my motivations to post.. no valid point to say or not in the mood to participate, I think it was when there were more post about earning online and members where always posting about the sites that they recently joined and would later be incite other members to join through links at their profiles.. so I end up using the search function of this site. If I do know about the topic being discussed, I'd surely participate in it Thanks for participating in this discussion I've started, venkygec

The main thing that prevents me from posting is doing other things, I cannot post if I have work, or things to do around the house, going out with friends, eating or sleeping and other activities that I do throughout my day. Now internet related things, being on other websites and my internet not working, which is common when ironing is being done as that needs the plug sockets that the router uses.

There is nothing that says to me that it would put me off posting here on mylot,it is easy to post, and sometimes there are replies then often maybe there will not be a reply, but it does not matter at all.Mylot is a place to share and air your opinions and ask ohters of theres,so no all in all the only thing that would stop me posting is a computer breakdown or the loss of the internet.

The title as a determining factor that either gets us posting or not.. yeah, I agree with that.. sometimes, the titles just doesn't catch our attention, we'd assume that the content as well wouldn't be as intresting I wish that our connection would be statble too..

The first reason is not being able to find the discussion by the title that i am interested in. some questions do not apply, for others i seem not to have a good advice. The other thing is that i often start reading good discussions, even if i am not gong to post for it. i noticed there are more discussions that i would simply read because of interesting information and thoughts, rather than those where i would post. and one more reason not to post is being more interested in the discussions i have started personally. when my own discussions are going on, i feel more responsible for responding to people's comments, rather than for reading something new.

Being not aware of the topic being discussed sure is something that prevents us from participating and posting views since we have nothing to give as an input. I have also encountered 'discussions' like those.. Those that seems that it can stand alone on its own and refracting the points already stated wouldn't be right.. More interested on your own discussions... there are times that I would prefer to respond to other discussions, then there are also times when I like it more to keep up with what I have already started.. of course, I often try to search for topics in mind and if I can't find any of what I have thought of, I'd then start it out.

Why not start with simple comments? At least enough to express your opinion about the matter being talked about. You don't have to use difficult words at all, as long as your message reaches, that's good enough. Watch a few english films which may help you on dialogue constructions. On interests, then just stick with the ones you know and from there, you'd surely be able to develop better communication skills. Always keep in mind that if you have determination, you can do anything that you want to do

There are many things that prevented me from posting. First, I am not interested with the topic. Second, I don't know anything about the topic. I can't response to a discussion when I don't have any idea what it is all about. Third, like what you said, bad internet connection. It's really hard to respond here mylot when the internet connection is not really good. Fourth, I am not on the mood to participate and answer here. Sometimes, I do feel bad and not feeling well so I just open here to see who responded to my discussion. Lastly, there is a topic that is too complicated and controversial that I don't think I have to respond with. For example, one of the member here responded to my discussion, I went to her profile to look for her interesting topic. She has a topic that interest me most but when I read it, it's too controversial and complicated. It's about a mother daughter relationship. Lots of members are engaged in replying there. There is a mother there who gave her an advice that it's not good to hate your mother. Well because it's a discussion, there are different opinions. I feel sorry for one mother there especially when I found out that she went through a lot of hardship in taking care of a son who is not her own but a son of her irresponsible ex - husband. I ended up rating all her response positive even if it's not my own discussion and chose not to respond there.

I guess those are the usual reasons why we end up not posting in discussions. I mean, I too would experience those things that you have mentioned and I really don't like it when the internet connection is unstable.. The content would probably the determining factor most of the time. If its something we can't relate to or we don't want to participate in. Sometimes, I want to include images on my posts but, with the unstable connection, I end up doing it multiple times until I would relent and try to do it some other time. Sometimes when the post doesn't load right, and I forgot to save a copy of my intended post on a notepad, I lose the interest in posting which I just exhausted from the initial post that didn't puch through due to the internet connection [b](_

Sometimes I'm just quiet and don't have anything to share. I seem to go in spurts when in comes to posting both here and on my blog. It's not good if I go more than a few days without posting on my blog. Physical reasons why I might not post would be I had to turn the computer off due to storms and lightening close by. That happened a lot this Spring and Summer. Sometimes we lose our Internet service for a few minutes at a time and that gets frustrating so I get off the computer.

Not really an active in making posting responses or replies or depends on the mood? I also tend to turn off our computers when that happens since I assume that the internet would eventually be unstable during those rainy times even if they say its safe when our computer is plugged to a Automatic Voltage Regulator.. I do encounter that connection problem too from time to time but my main block is the language barrier I can't seem to get over it. If its only in our native tongue then I can do it with no inhibitions. There are times that when I start one, after a few words I'm stuck, cant think of the right word and if its already taking some time I move on to the next, I end up having a lot of open tabs which later on will simply be closed and the though of getting back to it some other time often do not happen. I even limit my self starting a discussion for the same reasons. What should I do kuya Ratyz.

'Kuya?' Connection problem is indeed something familiar for anyone I know here in our country for some reason. Calling customer service would only annoy me more with their responses to my inquiries.. but the last time was satisfying enough when they actually sent service men to check up on our connection, we ended up with a new modem. You can't seem to get over the language barrier? Your already using this medium quite well if I could say so myself.. Whenever I do get into a situation that you described, I would often ask people 'round me for the translation of the word which I want to use. They often ask on the context or even the whole sentence and they'd translate everything just to get the word that I'm asking to be translated as well.. I've been looking for an english to our language (and vice versa) dictionary that we can install on our computers since I only have a Concise Oxford Dictionary - Tenth Edition .. I know there are already more editions available but, this one is good enough for me.. What should you do, ferdzNK senpai? What I often do would be to read anything. From good books that interests us to magazines that have beatifully shaped women on covers or even in its contents. We end up encountering words that those who write articles use or even what the editor composes on his letters at the beginning of the magazines. Like awhile ago, after reading the recent issue of MAXIM, I learned a new word which is stubble ^0^ Aside from reading more, watching films ain't a bad idea too.

yeah, same here. Internet connection is one of the reasons that prevents me from posting. Like what you said, it was quite annoying of having already type my response and then the page doesn't load up. Since I can't use the copy-paste command, it's really irritate me esp. if I happened to type a lot. The other reasons that prevents me from posting are if I can't relate much about the topic or if I am not in the mood to response. There are times as well that I'm too lazy to type even I wanted to type. I think that's the reasons that I can think now on what prevents me from posting. Have a nice day!!!

Good thing you could relate to this discussion I started and you had the mood to type your response about it The connection problem usually happens during rainy days but, its odd since it shouldn't be like that at all if it is raining. I could understand if the electricity shortage happened since the modem still needs to be plugged.
