Fresh picked these as my wife is making a cold tuna macaroni salad and
wanted peppers as well with the onions I picked earlier as well. My garden
is flourishing like crazy now. The heat and sunshine and all my TLC makes
for a great harvest and or snack while outside. When you go out to tend to
your garden are you in the habit of picking and eating as you work? I think
I snack more than gets used for meals sometimes. Do you as well? I do all
the time. I was watering the red rasberries earlier as well, and picked
about 20 as I watered eating them as I moved the hose around.

Cool! I just picked my first item out of my garden and my son and I made bread with it, waiting for the bread to be done. I have to wash everything first, this year the bugs are so bad I had to spray. Great picture!

It was zucchini. I was really surprised that we got to pick anything because we moved last fall and we have so many trees at our new house (over 100) that I figured 4 hours of sunlight a day would not be enough for a garden but we tried it and it's doing very well. So do you plant seeds or do you buy your plants? I planted seeds this year and thought that it would be a great little science project for them. Then they found out that if they wrote a report on the experience they would get a special patch to put on their karate gee.

Yup those are banana peppers.
Rasberries are small. About the size of your thumbnail is all.
But they are very juicy and sweet as well.
Here's a shot of a couple of mine still growing.

Hi Grandpa B,
Wow! That is cool about your rasberries, we have 2 plants here given by a friend from Detroit and still growing! I hope this will survive until giving us fruits..LOL!
We have made a lot of cucumber salad this time, we are giving to the neighbors some since we are harvesting each day! LOL! It's really wonderful to have something to eat in the backyard! Very inspiring!

I must have about 50 Rasberry bushes now. I pruned them all (15) to the ground last fall. This helps them spread quickly and the falling out part is they don't produce fruit the next year. But a few have so that's a good thing. I will be buried in berries next year I hope. My pickling cukes and growing like weeds now. Gotta get the jars and spices etc this weekend for sure.

Even I have this habbit of eating rather munching all the time. So it definately affects my meals. I think even the doctor prefers that you take six small meals rather than three complete meals. So I keep this habbit of munching day in and day out. And basically you are eating fruits and vegetables so it is fine .

My 3 yr. grandson loves to harvest stuff from the garden. He picks and eats the green beans. I give him a big bowl and let him pick all the beans he can find. He likes to munch on them too as he picks. He went out today and wanted to know what happened to his beans, that he had picked yesturday. He didn't know that I frooze the ones he picked yesturday.

again, you make me envy you grandpa bob... you always able to get free fruits and vegetables from your garden while i have to pay for it... moreover, i believe yours will be much fresher and yummier because it is straight from the garden... how i wish i have a green hand like you as well... then i don't have to spend that much money on my grocery... :-) take care and have a nice day...

The clean/sanitizing freaks would go into conniptions if they read this! Yes, we used to snack as we picked and I will when my garden is in next year. We'd pick the carrots, wipe them off on our shorts and eat them. Same with berries and anything else we liked.
I've heard that we all eat a bushel of dirt every year, one way or another, so might as well get it honestly from the garden!

Well I eat them usually after I water them. So the hose is in my
hands and I rinse them off. No chemicals or fertilizer used so
they are very organic and ready to eat after rinsing them.

LOL Bob, I have never seen bell and banana peppers. What are they? I guess they won't grow here. But it is nice to read your garden posts. You inspire me to start garden posts of my own. The only problem is that I won't be able to post pictures because I have no camera. :)
Cheers and happy mylotting
